If Marshall came to the Swans right now, he would be third choice, our keepers are crucial for distribution. Marshall would be great for someone like Stoke who don't play out from the back. £4-5 million.

Marshall is far superior to Tremble but agree he could not be the offensive sweeper we need.

Its the reason our teams have the players we have. They are capable of moments of genius but have a glaring fault in their armour, hence they play for us rather than Bayern/Barca/etc in the first place!

by far and away the most important thing is for the keeper to make saves and keep the ball out of the net. its not his fault he has 10 players in front that are struggling. on that basis he is better than most in this league and certainly better than your 2.

OK by your very own litmus test, then 43 times Marshall has failed <doh> .... and he still cant distribute the ball ;)

Marshall might be a good keeper, but Vorm is on a different level again.

And if he sees more shots then he gets to save/see more. Great keepers are those that are able to step up when needed when quiet.

Regardless, your own standard fails you again since Vorm has a better save percentage than Marshall :)

So Swamp, if trophy winning, regular international, clean sheets, goals conceded, save percentage and distribution skills are not a true measure of a keeper, what is?

deary me, looks like i'll have to dumb it down for you.

just because he has a team conceding loads of easy chances for the opposition, doesnt mean the keeper himself is bad. putting casillas in goal wouldnt mean we'd go from conceding 2-3 goals a game to 0.

winning trophies is a team effort, not an individual feat. being an international depends on your competition at international level. as said before achieving clean sheets is a team effort, not solely down to the goalkeeper. 'save percentage' well thats more like it, finally an objective measure of a goalkeepers skill. go away and tell me the figures. distribution, yes important, but not as important as keeping the round thing out of the onion bag.

hope that helps.

swamp, you really need to know when to stop gobbing off :D

Vorm in his 78 premier league games has a 72.6% save percentage.
Marshall in his 25 games has a 69.3% save percentage.

"Hope that helps". I reiterate, Swamp, if trophy winning, regular international, clean sheets, goals conceded, save percentage and distribution skills are not a true measure of a keeper, what is?

"NEED I DUMB IT DOWN FOR YOU"<laugh>:emoticon-0102-bigsm. Why, even some geezer called Joe Lewis has a better % than your incumbent, which according to your singular subjective measure of a keeper.... means you have the wrong guy between the sticks (cue scuffling noise as Swamp quickly backtracks)

WHAT A FAIL <doh>" DEARY ME" it must be very dark and cramped for you in my pocket, Swamp

sorry to the fellow cardiff posters, but just responding in turn captain patronising. Shall leave you guys in peace out if respect.

Now Swim thats taking the pi$$. Lewis has played one Prem game only so in statistical terms whatever his shots/save/goal ratio is would be disregarded as not being meaningful.

I do not dispute that Vorm is a good keeper as is Marshall and if those stats are correct then they prove the case for both keepers.

I think we have to admit that Vorm has played behind a generally more miserly defence which has not allowed the opposition scorong opportunities on the scale we have this season hence we are where we are and you are etc.....

Just hope both keepers can improve on those figures in what remains of the season. <ok>

I will drink to that BfB :emoticon-0148-yes:

only jesting about Lewis...but incase Swamp fails to relent, there is a proven keeper in the Prem with a 100% save percentage if Tan is interested and only costs £5mill

Angel Rangel :)

When the fire sale starts in the summer, we will take Caulker and Marshall for a very generous £6million, you will obviously be very grateful.

Get your head out of your arse, fire sale? that's the Swansea way.
