Jose's mind games have got to Pellegrini again. This is too easy for Mourinho, Chelsea will win the league.

I thought Demichelles actually played well today until his tackle which, he had to make as Messi was going to score anyway. He should have made the tackle earlier so only to give away a free kick rather than a penalty though.

Barca are frustrating to watch at times as a neutral.. you just want them to speed things up a little but they tend to slow it down. Works for them though

  4. I think he would have been better off not attempting a tackle at all. Sure, Messi could have scored but he still had to beat Hart whilst under pressure, plus Man City would have still been 1-0 down had he scored but with eleven men still on the pitch.

True, but had he made the tackle outside the box, they would have been down to 10 men but probably still 0-0 assuming they didn't score the free kick.

City actually played alright with 10 men. All if's and but's though.

Did think City bottled it a bit, they should have had the courage to stick to what they do best, especially at home and tried to take the game to Barca. You can get at them if you attack them as other teams have shown in the past, but if you give them the ball and sit back, you have to defend very well and be exceptional on the counter. Something that City haven't had much practice at this year..

  6. Well, technically he did make the tackle outside the box, the referee just saw it differently <laugh>

They did get at them a few times. But for some better finishing they may have got something out of the game despite the penalty and sending off.

Anyone know what odds you can get on PSG? Must be dark horses to win it.

  9. Doubt they are dark horses with the money they have spent and players they have, anyone that doesn't know about them isn't much of a football fan really.

Edit: They are fourth favourites @ 11-1

    Bayern @ 13-5
    Barca @ 15-4
    Real @ 9-2
    PSG @ 11-1
    Chelsea @ 14-1 <yikes>

Well Dark horses in fact that Bayern/Madrid/Barca are probably favourites ahead of them.

11/1 is pretty good considering they are pretty much already through to the quarters.

  11. That is pretty good odds TBF. Will they win it though? Odds can be 1,000,000,001-1 but if they don't win it then it doesn't matter.

If they get a favourable draw. Say 2 of Barca/Madrid/Bayern get drawn against each other.. that's 1 of them out in QF.. then they could well get drawn together again in Semi's that could leave PSG with an easy run in against clubs like Olympiacos, Schalke, United, Zenit etc. Then who knows in the final...

Put it this way, worse teams than PSG have won the league... Porto.. us... Chelsea last year.

City were just to passive, sat off the ball gave Barca loads of time to pass it around, no pressing, no urgency. What was it 70 odd % possession for Barca and 141 passes to Citieh's 41 passes after quarter of an hour... speaks for itself. Then the red was the end of that. One down, three to go.

Hopefully this round of CL matches (and Europa League) will tire the English teams and we can sneak in ... ;)

Man Utd might even go out this round. They have won all 4 previous games against Olympiakos.

Pellegrini has a small #meltdown over the referee

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26250792

I think that Navas went down before contact looking for a free kick. The penalty was initially outside the box but so close I have no sympathy for the moron Demichelis (and it continued into the box anyway).

The decision not to book Busquets for his professional foul was dodgy though.
