    There's no quote and it's the Sun. Until there's more info from a better source I generally dismiss this sort of stuff right away.

    it also says on the back of the journo...as posted in my leon best thread ealier this morning...

    don't get you knickers in a twist about it. he strung a few goals together but for me i won't miss him. he didn't look good enough at times and he's never been prolific. fact stands that he scored 3 of his 6 against the worst west ham side i've ever seen. i could have scored a hat trick that game.

    there were times when he's missed sitters badly and exposed himself as nothing more than championship quality or half decent bench warmer.

    But he's our best striker, which is the worry some people have. We haven't signed better yet and yet we're flogging the current. I'm sure we will sign better fine, but obviously its a bit nerve racking to get rid of your better players in your weakest position before signing more.

    I agree that clearing the decks before confirming any signings is way risky.

    This <ok> He may not be Alan Shearer or Andy Carroll... but he's our best striker right now and it would be ludicrous to sell him without first bringing in a replacement.

    i agree its a risky strategy but from a business perspective his stock is as high as its ever gonna get.

    To be fair he is ****. Had a couple of decent games but he's still crap.
    Would rather keep Shola as back -up (even tho he's cack also) + 2 new strikers coming in.
    Lover ,Best and Ranger can all go for me.

    Think about it, a year ago, Best couldn't score even if it was handed on a silver platter, we all agreed it was Hughton's worst signing and that we'd probably be lucky to make half the money we paid for him (1mil I think it was).

    Now we could get more than double?

    I think we should definitely keep him, he's young, can hold up the ball well, has a good leap on him and we have no other strikers! I would get rid for £7m as that would just be too good an offer to turn down, otherwise, keep him!
