I don't understand why player's get sent off for a professional foul when a penalty is also awarded. That rule is ****ed up. Messi actually gor a better chance to score from the penalty than the one Demichelis denied him of with the foul. If it's a penalty then surely a yellow would suffice? That one incident basically finished the whole game. That rule needs looking at. The Suarez handball at the 2010 WC against Ghana is an example of where a penalty and red card is appropriate, since he saved it on the line and therefore the penalty was a good result for Uruguay, but for situations like today's it's just overkill.
In my opinion for extreme cases like those I believe a goal should be awarded. Might sound a bit OTT but so what?

at the beginning of the game last night Valdez charged out of his 6yrd area to flap and miss a cross into the box , this challenged resulted in the keeper clattering into a group of players with his body (no foul was given - it would have been by an outfield player) the ball found itself lofted into the box and the challenge was between Negredo and the recovering Valdez , there was - as usual - minimal contact with the keeper but he won a FK.

I watched the game when I got in last night. That Demichelis is a f**king liability isn't he? Prior to the penalty decision he made some half decent interceptions/ tackles but then gave the ball away every single time. They'd have been better off signing Alex Bruce.
