Hanging would be too good for the bar stewards....let them *escape" in front of a hundred squaddies!!
Its always easy to allow the emotions of a single case to spill in to rash errors of judgement that will inadvertently, down the line, also come to bear on those who are not as deserving.
In their own country they'd have a had a rusty 6" nail through the top of their skulls and left for the rats to feed on the corpse. Just do the humane thing and hang the cowardly bastards and save the country some money in the process.
My point is simply setting the precedent is enough to open up the use of this punishment in future cases where it is not so cut and dry. The case of the Birmingham 6 will forever influence my judgement on this. 6 completely innocent men picked up because they had an accent and then confessions beaten out of them. The judge, when passing down sentencing, stated he wished the option of the gallows had been available to him as they each would have got it. Now can you imagine, and i mean really picture, yourself standing on the gallows getting the noose around your neck, knowing what would follow. Luckily they were not condemned and after around 15-20 years had their convictions overturned, not after one died in prison. But had capital punishment been available not one would have lived to see their acquital. Like I said, emotions run strong in the most horrific cases where guilt is a certainty. But beware of what you inflict on others down the line. No criminal justice system in the world is foolproof enough to make those sort of ... permanent ... decisions
Life with fullproof (99.9) evidence should mean life - tiz all i get your devils advocate, but no mate, henis crimes should bear the repercussions
Thing is they want to die and want to be martyrs because that will get them their 72 virgins. Let them rot in jail where each day in the showers will be a terrifying event.
