I know a lot of City fans and many were more comfortable having a day out in London for the 3rd division play-off final. They beat Gillingham in 1999 in circumstances similar to Utd's win v Bayern to clinch the treble that year. City could win the quadruple - I don't think they will, but they could - and many City fans would just find it surreal. Viv Nicholson won the pools in 1961, she blew all the money, went back to being poor and was happiest then. I lot of City fans identify with this, I think. And if The Smiths re-formed, they might even feature on the cover of their new single.

2. The reverse is true for United fans, though, Little Luke.

Most of United's fan base is plastic, with nearly all only supporting the club during its very long period in the glory limelight.

Now that the Glaziers and Moyes have brought the club to its knees, with the reality of mid-table obscurity making itself felt like a solid kick to the nuts, they won't be happy until the good times start rolling once again, or they start supporting another glory team, one that is currently in the limelight and likely to stay there.

It wouldn't be Spurs would it? that edge of the seat stuff, will we hang on to our 1 goal lead etc. All the bullshit as well, I can see it now; Messi, the first £1M a week footballer, 'Spurs always were my boyhood club' Too much ****, Stub-hub selling seats ay £5k a time. White Hart Lane filled with plastics, it would be like playing the chavs every week.

I could live with putting 5 goals past the goons every time we play them though and the goat kebabs would be good.

And could you imagine Levy negotiating the deal? **** me, it would go down to the wire so the new owners wouldn't be able to buy any players in the first transfer window. Levy would want a 50% share of the dudes oil wells, a sell on clause for the club, 50 camels a month for 10 years and free first class travel for life on whatever airline to sheik owned. However rich the sheik was he'd be skint the time he'd done business with Levy so it wouldn't do us a lot of good anyway.

If an oil Arab bought Spurs, Levy would have their conversion to Judaism as part of the small print.

Either that or Islam would have to give up any claim on Jerusalem.

If we were bought by the Aga Khan he'd have to change his name to the Aga Khan't by the time Levy had finished with him.

8. If Spurs became invincible as a result of oil money, I'd have no reason to wum.

We must never let that happen.

What if it took quite a bit less oil money than for Chelsky and Citeh ?? ;)

Not even to ridicule and take the 'easy' approach to Wum, which the fans of successful clubs can do to smaller clubs . You wouldn't resort to that, would you HIAG?

11. You know, I don't think I could, Boss.

Where would be the fun in it?

Sure, initially, it would feel great, wumming Chavs, Mousers, and especially Gooners; but as our invincibility became assured and accepted, the boredom would set in, and I'd probably take to wumming my own fans (which is kind of what's happened to the Gooners, although that's mainly due to their prolonged period of failing, as Mourhino pointed out, recently).

Wumming is always more challenging from a lower perch than the highest. Otherwise, it's nothing short of bullying, which I detest.

12. I like your theory. And I can see how fun from such wummery might well be achieved.

However, one has to be realistic about this, and accept that true invincibility can only be achieved and maintained with a huge amount of cash. We'd have to out-spend Chavs and £ity combined.

Seriously though.
If only 100m cash (and no more) was injected into Spurs today, do you not believe that
the additions to the current squad could make us contenders ??

Even with the meh back four and CM this season, a predator like Aguero or RVP on
their own would probably be worth an extra 10 pts on our PL tally to date.

We wouldn't buy an Aguero or RVP with £100m. We'd scatter gun it across europe looking for bargains and youngsters

Spurs would, if those players wanted to come.

We don't have a problem spending enough to sign an Aguero or van Persie, we just can't match their wages.
One would cost us over 10% of our wage bill and our other players would want a raise.

Manchester City can still beat Barcelona, claims Samir Nasri
• Barça will fold under pressurised attacks, claims City man
• Manuel Pellegrini could face touchline ban for return leg

Yet City bottled the tactics which got them such big wins. So now they failed at home, they are deluded if they believe they can overturn a 2-0 scoreline as Barca will score.

Nice of Pellegrini to consider the thrashing of Spurs as being comparable to the job
that Citeh will have to do in Munich.
