I don't buy the whole burn out theory, PDC fitness pre season is still reaping the benefits and we have two for every position, We've played 35 games already and we're still taking teams apart in the 2nd half. Nice two weeks without a game for the first team too to recharge a bit.

I certainly don't see us beating these top teams but I think the odd draw is quite possible, as for our home form it's been fine when you look at all comps, we keep improving under Gus so hope he can get us winning at home in the league. Hopefully starting at palace.

I think the mackems will finish bottom. Their fixture pile-up towards the end of the season and their defeat to Citeh in the final will see them implode. And I hope Steve Bruce gets to do another job on them, three times in a season might even shut the big-mouthed ****s up (though I doubt it). Come on Agent Bruce!

Also Norwich and Cardiff to go down.

I'd like to think Norwich will stay up for CH's sake.

I keep hearing this but it sounds a bit hopeful to me. Some of the best managers to grace the PL have struggled to combat fatigue from all competitions with bigger and better squads than Sunderland. The idea that PDC has somehow come up with a regime far superior to his peers sounds bat **** crazy to me. Even Gus is moaning about the fixture pile up, he knows what's ahead and will having all the output data on their fitness levels. He is trying to overcome up it by using the squad fully and not putting too much focus on it (sometimes it gets worse in the head). The reality is though fatigue is very very real and to suggest otherwise with all known evidence is madness.

The feel good factor of winning in the cup final and continuing in the FA might help that physical torture via a mental pick up. A defeat may do otherwise. Either way I think we'll see Sunderlands squad depth tested at some stage in April/May.

Oh it will be tested no doubt about that, just drawing on the point of so far so good, it's holding up, for now. Striker situation aside it's becoming clear that our squad is a lot better then last year as we now have a bit more depth to rely on. A luxury we most certainly did not have last season. With the Liverpool game now postponed as expected, a part of me is happy that the Clump of the big teams away has now been split. But it could bite us in arse down the line. We have at least three games in hand with little room to slot them in. Who knows how we'll cope. We'll see.

Pity Sunderland couldn't play Newcastle a few more times this season, they would soon be safe

Yes we would, but what about Sunderland?

It would mean no derby games next season.
