Warning issued ahead of cup final.
Sunderland fans are being advised that staff at Wembley Stadium will be taking strong measures to prevent the use of pyrotechnics at the Capital One Cup final on March 2.
Pyrotechnics and smoke bombs are strictly prohibited in and around Wembley and police will arrest anyone found in possession of pyrotechnics within the stadium itself, as well as the streets and surrounding areas.
Pyrotechnic detecting dogs will be on duty at the Wembley turnstiles and all supporters, including minors (under 12), will be searched if there is reason to believe they may be in possession of pyrotechnics.
Sunderland AFC stewards will be on duty on the day, working with their colleagues from Wembley to assist with the stewarding operation and in the robust tackling of the illegal use of pyrotechnics.
SAFC head of safety and security, Paul Weir, said: “We want everyone to enjoy the Capital One Cup final and I would urge fans to heed the advice from Wembley. There is no place for pyrotechnics in football and Wembley will take the strongest action possible to ensure the safety of all supporters.”

Hope you get your tickets smug, sorry the info I sent wasn't much help. Turns out quite a few of us from Stavanger are decending on London, most of the others are commuters with ST's, so we probably all get together after the match, and have a bloody good piss-up hopefully in celebration, but a piss-up whatever the result.
Enjoy the day !!

After picking up just one point from their first eight Premier League games of this campaign, before dispensing with the services of then boss Paolo Di Canio, it is a credit to the Italian’s replacement, Gus Poyet, that Sunderland are now 7/4 outsiders for relegation and still going strong in two cups.
Since the Uruguayan took over at the Stadium of Light, the Black Cats have won 11 of their 25 fixtures, with three of those victories coming in FA Cup matches against Carlisle, Kidderminster and fellow top-flight outfit Southampton.
Poyet’s record in the Capital One Cup has been even more impressive, with the Saints, Chelsea and Manchester United all left in the Mackems wake as they set up a Wembley date with 5/4 Premier League title favourites Manchester City.
Taking into account their vast improvement under Poyet, plus the favourable draw handed to Sunderland in the quarter-finals of the world’s greatest domestic cup competition, the colossal 80/1 odds on offer about an historic Sunderland ‘treble’ have to be worth a wee nibble.

You’re friendly neighbourhood bookmakers bwin will pay out on this bet if Sunderland win the FA Cup, Capital One Cup and are still a Premier League team by the start of the 2014/15 season.
Considering they’re currently eighth in the top-flight form table, with ten points from their last six outings, they look more than capable of avoiding the drop, especially with the likes of West Brom, Crystal Palace, West Ham and both Welsh sides still to come at home.
As far as the FA Cup is concerned, either Poyet’s old club Brighton or Hull await away in the next round.
Although Steve Bruce’s men have beaten Sunderland home and away already this season, none of the Tigers’ squad have managed a Premier League goal in 2014 bar January signings Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long and their new £12.5m strike-force are cup tied for the rest of the campaign.
Poyet will fancy his chances of getting past whichever team gets through that fifth-round replay, with the possibility of a second trip to Wembley for the semi-final within the Black Cats’ sights.
At that stage anything can happen, as Wigan showed last season when getting through Millwall before beating Roberto Mancini’s heavily-fancied Man City side 1-0 in the final.
Will the Citizens freeze once again in north-west London under current coach Manuel Pellegrini when Sunderland take them on in the Capital One Cup final? While it remains to be seen, punters who’ve backed the outsiders’ unique ‘treble’ at 80/1 will be holding on to their betting slips tightly should such an eventuality come to pass.
Sunderland to win Capital One Cup @ 7/1

apparently foreign pickpocket squads from romania and the likes are actually coming over for the event targeting football fans - so beware, lock your wallets in your digs and keep your hand in your front pocket with your cash.

Also dont stand out in the open surfing your phone coz they'll have it, run past you, or on a bike, swipe it out of your hand, wear back-packs on your front

Some of you might have seen the banner we had made for the day the Mags were relegated and we played Chelsea.

We had it in the ground then took it on a tour of almost every pub in Sunderland until we reached the Roker Hotel at 3am and collapsed in our rooms.

We had so much drink bought for us we crawled round the last half a dozen, New Derby, Harbour View, Wooley etc.
Literally 1000's had their photos taken with it and they're still sometimes popping up on various websites and fanzines.

Having seen the various postings about Trafalgar Square, flags and whatever we were wondering if we should quickly change it to 'Toon NOT Gannin' Doon' and have it up.

Would people realise it means 'not gannin' doon to Wembley' or is it just a **** idea <laugh>
