Yep , Fenton was found to have illegal animal remedies in 2012, he will face a fine of no more than 5 thousand euros or a possible 6 month jail term. I'm sure the fine will be the outcome at court then the turf club will surely hold there own inspections and take further action as deemed appropriate. Such a shame, I hope no animals were running with banned substances.
It is Ron, truly brilliant. It has never been critically aclaimed as far as I know, but I'm guessing that's because it's a Western, with a Brit lead.
To be fair it was apparently back in January 2012 so you'd have to suspect there has been a very close eye kept on him.
As I said on today's thread Bob - I'm afeared for my Last Instalment voucher - although it helps explain his resurgance!
The 'remedies' were found in 2012 Bob by the Department of Agri, i seriously doubt if any of his recent wins were influenced by illegal activities. I doubt once caught he was dumb enough to maintain using whatever exactly it was. We just may wait and see what the outcome is Thursday onwards!
Problem with some of these banned substances is that maybe they shouldn't be banned; it depends what they are used for. Years back we used to use a substance called Regu-mate on one of our show jumping ponies. When she came into season she used to spurt all over the place. At one point they announced it as a banned substance. We told a friend of ours who was president of some high up organisation (name escapes me) and she had a right go and the ban didn't go ahead. Had she not prevented the ban there would have been times when our mare would have been unable to compete. I see, after all these years, it is still not banned, judging by the advertisements.
This business with the Irish trainer Fenton. I've just read that the stuff was found during an inspection made in January 2012. Whatever have the authorities been doing in the intervening 2 years? Seems very odd.

Does anyone expect to see the Triumph winner running in the Adonis Hurdle on Saturday at Kempton? Shocked to see that Mr Henderson won't be having a runner, but Mr Nicholls looks to have a likely one in Alcala for the Wylies. No prices up yet .....
