And I thought I was the only one who thought this.
What happened to players who could take on their marker and have the defence falling back? We are playing continual 'possession-pass-back' football!

    1. Davies- solid and saved us a few times. Clearly has aspirations to be a winger too judging by the last 15 minutes.
    2. Sagbo - the only real goal threat.
    3. Fryatt - not sure it's right for 25 mins but we looked a lot more incisive and purposful when he was no.

    Elmo by a mile
    Davies
Sagbo/Aluko (Sone was absolute crap in the first half but did start to play in the second)

Faye and Quinn were both pathetic .

Can you blame Aluko, he's just been out for four months FFS. I thought he was very good considering.

Quinn was the one who surprised me, but he did try very hard, just not much came off.

Faye didn't surprise me, he shouldn't be anywhere near a starting XI and I suspect will retire come season's end. Bruce should have started instead.

1 elmo by miles, everything went through him
2 sagbo, not a great performance, definitely short of long and jelavic's standard but sc0red, hit the post and never stopped
3 errr, hard to pick one so ill go for steve bruce, good substitutions, good initial selections too, think most of us were a little surprised by the starting strength

v lethargic performance again following the same against the Saints; we need to get some energy into the side. The game just passed Livermore by! If you don't press the ball you make it easy for the opposition. Quinn and Figgy disappointing, and Faye played like he knew he was on his way out in four months time. Quinn should have taken one for the team by taking the player down in the centre circle leading up to their goal. Aluko much better when he dropped back and played behind Sago and Fryatt; good to see him get a full game under his belt. In terms of MOM there wasn't one!

Whilst i'm as frustrated with the performance as most on here, and the performances of some individuals, let's put some perspective to this - other than the first 10 mins or so when Brighton were on top, we had most of the ball, hit the woodwork twice and had one cleared off the line. Brighton are no mugs, and often had 9/10 men behind the ball, looking to frustrate us, and hit us on the break - a job well done by them in my opinion. No matter who you are or how good you are it is tough to play against a very defensive team, we've seen Man City draw with Norwich, Chelsea draw with West Ham recently in similar circumstances, and we don't have the fire power those two do. Getting them back to the KC where we are stronger isn't the end of the world.

    Elmo
    Davies
    Aluko (later on)

Thought we at least tried to play the ball around instead of some of the hoofball of recent games, hopefully we'll keep with short game at Cardiff even if with different forwards.

Fryatt deserves an honourable mention - he looks good enough at this level and did well in his short spell at Anfield last month against Premier League opposition. Should be on the bench at least on Saturday.

Thought Sagbo was **** personally, don't see what he brings a lot of the time, doesn't get in behind, doesn't hold it up, doesn't create.

    Elmo
    Davies
    Fryatt

He's frustrating because he's clearly got all the required skills but for some reason it just doesn't work for him a lot of the time.

I think the issue with Sagbo is he spends so much time outside the box holding the ball up bringing others into play that he's hardly ever in position to score. I don't think it's a coincidence that Aluko has set up 3 of his 4 goals including friendlies.

    Stop being sensible!

Good post; more time with Aluko will tell the tale. <ok>

I agree with this. In fact there were times when we actually looked pretty slick but things didn't quite click. The team worked hard and I thought Brighton looked a very good side.

    1. Elmo - was a genuine attacking threat and worked hard all night for the team.
    2. Sagbo - also worked hard and got a well deserved goal.
    3. Huddlestone - may not have been brilliant but sprayed the passes around pretty effectively and was better than he has recently been.
