Is it possible that City could win 4 trophies this season or is their fixture list getting too much for them? ......AND, will Tim go all out to win the Europa?
I think the FA Cup and League Cup are as good as theirs now but if Aguero gets injured again I can't see them winning either the PL or CL.
Its cup football so anything is possible, between them n Chelsea for the league with one or two more iffy results for both, neither being consistant, long way to go yet. We'll know a bit more in the next 4weeks, they could have one (LC) and be out of another (CL)!
What I don't know about probability has filled volumes, but from what I think I understand, to determine the chances two things happen, you multiply them together. So if we randomly assign City a 2/3 chance of winning the League Cup, the FA Cup and the league, the chances of all three happening are 8/27, or less than 1/3. I don't think they've got more than a 1/4 chance in the CL, if that, but if we add that in, then it's 1 chance in 12 for four cups. I think it's less than that. 2/3 for the League Cup is realistic, but I'd call it 1/2 for the PL, 1/3 for the FA cup and 1/6 for the CL--which would make their quadruple chances 2/108 or ~1/50, which seems reasonable to me.
That's exactly what I was going to say RWAEB but you beat me to it! I'm looking forward to tomorrow's match and seeing if City can do a "Bayern" on Barcelona. Watching Barcelona at the weekend they looked pretty awesome and a front 6 of the following 8 players is always going to score goals: Busquets Xavi Iniesta Fabregas Pedro Messi Alexis Sanchez Neymar But if City can get in their faces and not allow them to play then I can see then causing them problems and City don't have a problem scoring goals usually.
Man City aren't that good. I mean they have some fabulous players but they aren't going to go down as one of the truly great teams of our era and complete the quadruple. Bayern should win the CL. City will likely win domestic trophies but they are fortunate that Fergie isn't around or Sherwood isn't in his second season with us.
Good question, I'll PM Spurcat My Main concern about Van Gaal please log in to view this image Is I can't decide if he resembles Steve Bruce or Brendan Rodgers? but aslong as he doesn't do squats like AVB!
I'd love to £ity do the quad for two reasons. Firstly, it would make Pelligrini, at a stroke, the greatest club manager that ever walked this planet, and that alone would piss off The Twatty One more than anything else any other manager could say or do. Secondly, it would prove, beyond any lingering doubt, that money - the kinds of unlimited billions that the Arabs have blown on £ity - can buy you everything and anything in football. Unless your name is Abramovic, which will piss him off more than anything that could piss off The Twatty One. Surely, that has to be worth the interminable gloating and dreadful punditry we'd have to put up with from Liam Gallagher for the next decade?
It's only Chelsea & City fans that try to say it's nothing to do with money the rest of us know different
I agree. To go from a nothing side in 2008 to winning everything in 2014 would show that money and money alone rules football.
City and Chelsea fans seem to act like money isn't the reason why they are the two best sides in England.
Putting Barca out of the CL IMHO would give Citeh massive mental impetus for the PL. The League Cup final is a one-off, and they must not be complacent. In the FA Cup, only a SF draw against possibly the Goons or Everton could derail appearing in the final. Everything now for them is about their mental resolve and self-belief.
But they know that is bollocks, as does everyone else in the whole world. If one team has a budget of £100m per season and the other has a budget of £15m, then I know which one will be successful, unless the rich one is hopelessly mismanaged. Chelsea's lack of success in the last few years (even allowing for Europa and CL) has been a disgrace. They should never be 6th or 7th in the league with their resources.
"City and Chelsea fans seem to act like money isn't the reason why they are the two best sides in England." In the case of Chelsky, if the past two PL seasons is anything to go by, choice of manager is a bigger determinant in how many pts they are ahead of / behind of a "small" club like Spurs come end of season.
