must win game frankly. swansea had 2 brain farts v everton and thats why they lost. LFC must actually score a few goals and get this one done early.... but we won't. we will not go at this lot like we did at arsenal. we'll pass it about the back in a "big club v small club" mentality "controlling it" swansea will cough up 6 goals if the press them like we did arsenal at home.
The EL game is massive for us as we might never get another chance to play such a big game on the European stage. As for the game against you guys, if you play to your best we'll get stuffed, if you play belwo par and us at our best we might nick a point. Unofrtunately, given the 7 games in 21 days we have, the FA Cup game in my opinion was the least important given our position in the league.
But surely sustaining your Premier League status with a long term plan of building for the future will give you a better opportunity in years to come?
Yes of course PL survival is the priority, and always will be for us. If we were playing a relegation contender Sunday I'd say put a weakened team out against Napoli, but it's against you lot at Anfield where we will be very very lucky to get anything from the game, so it's as if we have a free shot Thursday. The really important game as I see it is against Palace the following week as that is a game we CAN and MUST win. Napoli Thursday, with a good performance can help increase our profile further in Europe and help build confidence for the rest of the season.
Swansea are easily going to stay up and if you did somehow go down it won't be because of points dropped at Anfield
I can't really find a flaw in your logic. Perhaps that's why we are gong to have to ensure that there is no complacency.
swansea are not going to easily stay up. sorry but thats a bad way to think. the form that lead to laudrup getting the chop is serious. you don't want another 5-0 tonking at anfield. for me the europa game is a god send to LFc and i do hope you go all out to play it then come to our ground tired and we win. You need to focus very hard on the league. I think fulham are done for now, two managers = not a good scenario. I think cardiff look bad too but are only 6 points off you and the drop is only 4 points away. ANYONE in the bottom half can still go down. Yes win 3 and it goes away. lose the next couple and you could be under pressure. Palace look more grizzled now and added options, stoke have been poor but have done just enough. sunderland should not go down and should get more points cos thier form points to it... villa and west ham look fine too. norwich for me are in trouble, west brom deserve the drop for sacking clarke... swansea have the points in the bag now but are only 3 and 4 points off these two strugglers focus on the league swans.. you must pick up more points. you beat cardiff and fulham (bottom two) at home recently to get you to 28. in the past 2 those are your only wins. with 6 loses in those 12.... you MUSt keep winning at home http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/matchday/form-guide.html finally away form would indicate a battling performance (see stoke 1-1 away) but i guess expectations should be low fom your side the joker is the pick up under monk that has made you think you are safe. LFC better turn up is all i'll add.
It's tight in terms of points but while Swansea have had very bad form the fact that there are still ten teams below them is also serious. What have they been doing all this time? The prospect of at least 8 of those 10 now overtaking Swansea is fairly remote. If Swansea win 3 or 4 of their home games against Palace, West Brom, Norwich, and Villa they are safe. Every other game is a bonus.
well in fairness thats fine. but.. laudrup sacked on 4th feb. swansea play the cardiff and win 3-0 at home, relegation threatened team... swansea go to stoke and draw. thats 4 points since the sacking and over the other 10 games prior to that that pulled in 6 points form one win v FULHAM and 3 draws. now sunderland have won a lot of games, are unbeaten in 6 away with 3 wins and were doing well at home until that sending off of brown v hull.. they I am SURE will be safe. how about west ham, again were in the relegation zone. they are now LEVEL with swansea having won 4 of the last 6 including beating swansea. How about villa? they are terrible right now with one win in 6 and 3 losses (and a draw v us) BUT they are again level with swansea so in short yes i agree there are a lot of teams under swansea but what i am saying is not that they will go down BUT that they cannot go focusing on the europa and think they are safe cos in two games time they could be in the bottom 3. they need to focus NOW on the league and win those games to push away and make the end of season comfortable. they play us, then palace and they then have arsenal postponed (cup) before west brom I would contend that two good solid wins v palace and west brom are far more important than the europa to them... and I just hope a bonus result v LFC doesn't happen I say it not hoping they do badly but out of positive wishes for a club trying to play good honest football compared to hackers like pulis and allardyce for example.
I agree. Like I said of the Napoli and Liverpool games, Palace is the most important for us. However as we are playing Liverpool Sunday, a game where we aren't expected to get anything, we can afford to have a crack at Napoli. However if we were playing Palace Sunday, then yes I would agree that we should keep certain players out of the Napoli game to keep fresh for the Palace match. Our form under Laudrup has been terrible since we won the cup, however since Monk has taken charge we are quickly getting things back on track and we have played quite well. Even our second/third string side did very well against Everton for a good 60 minutes at the weekend, so hopefully with another week and a half on the training park before Palace, hopefully we will continue to improve for the key games we have coming up.
This should be an easy win, not that Swansea are a bad team or anything but they have a big European game on thurs and anything less than a win for us would be a disaster really, hopefully that handsome devil that manages Swansea now will rest a few more on Sun.
Don't worry lads the score will be 3-0 by half time so we'll be able to substitute our key players to rest them for Sunday Just hope it's not 3-0 to Napoli
Played well the Swans last night. Have good players down the wings, where we are a little weak. If they are going to cause us trouble that's where it will come from. Should be a good game
