So why contribute then? If you read the comments, the reaction of some fans is ridiculous (mostly Arsenal fans to be fair).
Not sure there's anything amusing about it mate. Like you say not your personal views. Us Liverpool fans can take the abuse with a pinch of salt, but idiots going on about Heysel and Hillsborough need to clue themselves up or shut up.
I find the terms "Victimpool" & "It' s never their fault" disgraceful and i'm also disgusted that the author of that article is using them as hashtags on Twitter. I do however agree with him about persistent standing,even Liverpool have cut an away team's ticket allocation because of persistent standing
There's been a reciprocal cut between us and utd for league games after they cut our allocation, not sure about any other tbh. Didn't Coventry get the full allocation at your place in the previous round? Is there a history of trouble specifically with Liverpool fans hence cutting our allocation?
Yep - I totally agree with all the previous comments, especially Cym's. The terms which imply negatives or fault with the scousers about Hillsborough are disgraceful and not something I in any way agree with. I would like to emphasise that what I find amusing is the stupid comments mainly from Arsenal fans. I cannot understand how people still have that kind of mentality. However, the article stating about the allocation of tickets and then Liverpool doing exactly I did agree with. As well as: •Cazorla was fouled in the penalty area •Steven Gerrard committed 3 bookable challenges •Raheem sterling man handled Howard Webb •Howard Webb failed to penalise Agger & Skrtel time and again for fouling Sanogo BUT, please let me reiterate, nothing to do with 'always the victims' or any reference to tragedies amuses me at all. Merely the stupidity of some people. (including the author of the article).
Coventry were originally given a full a location but only wanted the bottom tier.Islington council refused the stadium a safety certificate if we'd given you a full allocation.Chelsea were given a full allocation for the LC game but because their fans persistently stood the council came to the decision they did with regards to the allocation allowed to the Spuds and yourselves
Taking flares to a game is lunacy, there's been several incidents at Anfield and Goodison from home and away support. Not sure how cutting allocations tackles that problem though! Standing is a perennial problem - the tannoy at Anfield rings out at every game 'Liverpool Football Club requests the away supporters sit down please'. Away fans like standing.
The only way to solve the problem of standing in my opinion is to re-introduce safe standing areas. Liverpool are just about the only club opposed to this now, which is kind of ironic seeing as they are being castigated for standing. I can understand why stadiums were made all seaters at the time after Hillsborough as most of them were dilapidated and dangerous, but the Taylor report always made it clear that it wasn't standing areas in themselves which caused that tragedy.
Standing is one of the reasons why I still go and watch non league games. That and you're generally allowed beers throughout...
I get what you're saying but .... I don't think it's ironic at all. All away fans stand and I doubt that Liverpool away fans standing is more of a problem than any other clubs fans. Some clubs give out leaflets asking the away support to remain seated. Also standing in front of a folded seat isn't a safety issue so there isn't really any irony between that and not wanting safe standing at all grounds imo. None of us can know how we would react if it had been our closest lost at a football game. It may be an over-reaction on the part of the Hillsborough families, it may be a real concern or an emotional one. It's been suggested that their loved ones may have wanted a return to standing again and getting more vocally involved that for some, sitting denies but how can any of us untouched by that event really fully understand. I know quite a few who were affected but none close to me and I would feel somehow I was letting them down should I vote in favour of standing - were it ever to come to a fan vote of course. Just to add - because it's very emotional issue and I'm an old softy, I would actually be against it whichever club had suffered the tragedy
Most fans are happy with safe standing and don't see it as an issue as long as it is done correctly and is safe for all, the club have a similar stance from what I remember reading. As far as the OP goes perhaps he doesn't know where the victims chants originated from but the thread is in bad taste as we all know where at least part of that tag comes from. Personally I would appreciate it if the thread was heavily edited or closed.
