This argument has bled into a few threads and seems to have polarised the fans so here goes...

    I'm saying league.

Why does it have to be versus. We are pretty healthy now , it would have taken 2 games after yesterday toget to the final that wont be played till later. We sit at the top of the "best of the rest " in league . Nobody is saying play your best , just don't play your worst , a cop out poll really to make the "blind faithers " feel better about themselves and our"Caretaker manager

Not a cop out poll at all. I'm not a blind faither by any standard.

If you look at what's happened to Newcastle and Fulham in recent years after going on Europa cup runs, you can see the detrimental effect it can have if the team isn't robust enough. We put out a squad rotation for the FA Cup game and Monk is getting hammered for it, but if we don't rotate, you expect top players to play 50+ games a season.
It can't work if we don't rotate and our rotation side isn't good enough. That's why (in our current situation) it had to be 'versus' in the poll.

If it's such a simple choice between league safety and cups then why don't we just pull out of all cup competitions for the foreseeable future? Unless we're taken over by a billionaire then realistically we'll be a mid table side at best and always be looking over our shoulder.

We should have put out a stronger line up yesterday and/or used subs properly.

It doesnt have to be providing you are having a tidy season. Make no mistake we are still in a relagation battle, so the league has to take priority. Had we been in the same position as Newcastle or Southampton i would have been disappointed. So there is no set answer to this.

Why are some worried about this "relegation battle" am I the only one who looks at the remaining fixtures and think just 8 points is enough to survive? In which I think we will get a minimum of 12 in our remaining games. Im nt worried about any sort of relegation battle, haven't been even from prior to ML's sacking, because the table doesn't tell the whole truth.

It won't let me. I still think it'll be representative of how people feel, but I can see why it looks a little weighted towards the league.

There isn't a soul on the board that won't make Premier league the #1 in priorities . There isn't a soul on the board who thinks we should play our best 11 every game , but I guess people have to vote somewhere . It's easier to vote for some more than others, it just steers you there really .PS You must be doing something wrong as I've seen other polls with more than 2 options, just saying .

No question as it stands today, the league but if we were 10 or more points better off then that changes things slightly and we can give the cups more of a chance,,,,But as it stands then monk has to choose what takes priority and that answer is a no brainer...

I think most Jacks would give the league priority it goes without saying, and nobody is slating Monk for rotating the squad or resting players, what they are slating him for is throwing the fixture, and nobody could defend his substitutions given the way the game was going in our favour, that game was fixed by our club to get us out of the FA Cup, and anyone thinking any different is deluded, and no amount of pontificating crap from Monk, or Huw jenkins would change my view.

Starting Aloevera, then substituting him with bloody Lita, and we are to believe we tried our best................<laugh>

#1 - Premier League, by an absolute mile.

#2 - The Europa League tie against Napoli.

#3 - Keeping key players fit.

#4 - The FA Cup tie at Everton.

I would had said this before the game, and despite the changes made the lads out there put in a very good account of themselves. <ok>

Once again I believe Garry Monk made the correct call and I'm certain the 'A-Team' will be on show for when the boys from Naples show up. :police:

The fact is despite the changes made we were extremely comfortable in the game up until the error, it's good man management and especially from a conditioning aspect when you've got a tough schedule like we have. We're Swansea City, not Manchester City, we simply do not have the squad.

The leader stated his intentions when he put Leroy Lita on, sure.

As I said, for all we know Wilfried may not had been at 100%?

Rest assured, the priorities would had been discussed between GM + HJ.

We'll be in the FA Cup next season and I believe we'll play Everton twice in the league too BUT we might not play Napoli again for a very long time, a win against them would be special, like the 0-3 in Valencia. No new injuries and the 'A-Team' will be on show, hope the fans are buzzing. <ok>

Although everyone wants to tuck this away as priorities agreed , it never had anything to do with priorities . It had to do with basically throwing out a totally weakened team to throw the 5th round of the FA Cup .A wrong and disrespectful decision, no matter who made it Imo

We do not have a large squad.

Regardless of your feelings toward the team selection you couldn't question the commitment of the players nor the game plan of Garry Monk. No manager can legislate for those sorts of errors, who's to say he wouldn't had brought Wilfried on for a 10 minute burst if the game was still in the balance?

I would had said the same thing if any manager in the world was in charge, including ML or BR. Even ML didn't pick the first 11 at Birmingham City, which I agreed with. Did you consider that to be 'disrespectful' too. Half the teams in the country do it. <ok>

Listen, if we didn't have a massive game against Napoli coming up I'd agree with all the critics in regards to the team selection but as it is I stand by GM. On a more positive note we have no new injuries. <ok>

Because of priorities. Yes we put out a weak side. what was the reason. Because we want people fit for the PL and Europa league. So it is priorities. Jees guys, even Brighton put out a weakened side out last night. because they want to concentrate on the league. southampton made 6 or 7 changes for their game at Sunderland. We are not the first to do it and we wont be the last. Get over it and move on.

    Bit torn on this one.

Would have liked a strong side out against Everton.

I know we're not in Europe every year but we're not in the FA Cup 5th round every year either. Only been in the qtrs 3 times, I believe.

Shame the way the FA Cup is going.

They should scrap the League Cup and give a champions league place to the winners or an Europa League place to the runners-up to restore the prestige.
