Being able to field a second string side and give a top PL side a good game away from home. What terrible times we live in. Need a bit of perspective to balance out the plastics, perennial whingers, and Laudrup fanboys. They'll never have to endure an away trip to Darlo and see us losing 6-0 after it being 0-0 halftime. Or losing 7-0 to a lower division side, 4-0 at Kidderminster, 3-1 at Bognor etc.
You call selling a possible semi final in the FA cup by fielding a lineup that could/would never win "good game"???? Let's skip the FA cup, thought Monk... It's a petty loosers way to think. What a Waste of the brilliant win at Old Trafford! Need a bit of self confidence and winning mentality - away travellers to Bognor and Kidderminister - with attitudes like this you'll be going there again soon enough. I respect the urge to win, or at least Loose trying to win. This fear of loss in the OP makes me sick. If you don't have the stomach for PL football go back play lower divisions, it's apparently that kind of footie you prefer...
Monks side in first game against Napoli, yeah you need to rotate the squad: Tremmel Tiendali Bartly Monk Amat JDG Emnes Lamah Hernandez Vazquez N'Gog Good game says Jack Uzi, because he likes going to distant places and see his team loose... Yeah maybe - if you like to pick the ball out of your own net, say I...
And even that was still a stronger squad 1 Michel Vorm 4 Chico 7 Leon Britton 10 Danny Graham 12 Nathan Dyer 15 Wayne Routledge 19 Dwight Tiendalli 20 Jonathan de Guzman 26 Kemy Agustien 27 Kyle Bartley 29 Ashley Richards It had 7 first teamers in the line up lol. The number of changes mean very little, the thing is which players he has chosen, yesterday was a throwaway, and if he had fielded the team he chose against Everton, for a Premier League game, he would have been fined, there is a difference fielding a weakened side against lower league opposition, but its downright disrespectful to the competition, the opponents, the fans, to do it in a game like yesterday. As for the OP Yes it can be said the players played well, that is not the point, because at the same time Everton played poorly, so does two wrongs make a right, does it ****. But then a pro Laudrup sacking fan boy would stick behind the choices. Fans from both sides travelled to watch two teams play football, they did not pay to watch us put out a pretty much 3rd string team to play Everton, we got lucky in regards to how poor Everton actually were, and your using that fact to justify the decisions, Everton on any other day would have absolutely ****ing mullered us. The problem is the pro Laudrup sacking fanboys will never admit that. And instead use the complaining to claim we are Laudrup fanboys, yet interestingly enough, we have given Garry praise also after his first 2 games, but unlike your group of fanboys, we are not afraid to speak up for **** decisions, as we are not afraid of it going agaisnt our initial opinions re the sacking in the first place. Your making excuses and thats all it is.
Dress it up all ya what uzi , we look like were being run by the mickey mouse fan club .Everton had an off day and breezed past us , threw away a quarter final FA Cup date
1 Michel Vorm 4 Chico 7 Leon Britton 10 Danny Graham 12 Nathan Dyer 15 Wayne Routledge 19 Dwight Tiendalli 20 Jonathan de Guzman 26 Kemy Agustien 27 Kyle Bartley 29 Ashley Richards 25 G. Tremmel 29 A. Richards 5 K. Bartley 2 J. Amat 3 N. Taylor (C) 20 J. de Guzman 21 J. Cañas 14 R. Lamah 11 Pablo Hernández 15 W. Routledge 26 Ãlvaro First of, Danny Graham was no more first teamer than Itay Shechter and Luke Moore. They all played just as many games. They way I see it, Chico is the difference between these teams. And if you take into consideration that we still have injuries... Maybe it was not the smartest thing to do, but there is a lot of things to take into consideration here. Will we ever get to play in the Europa League again? What is most important, survive in the Premier League or getting through to the next round in the FA Cup? Are we not allowed to choose what to prioritize? Would it have been better to do like Newcastle did last year, to put the U21-team on against Brighton in their first FA-Cup match and lose...?
Wow, it's like having a different opinion is akin to murdering a relative on here! Obviously some people think Laudrup's sacking was bad and some don't, completely normal. I'm worse than anyone, I was right behind Laudrup and now he's been sacked I think it was the right decision!!!....doesn't make me less of a Jack, doesn't make me a clueless fanboy. A lot has been said but Laudrup has gone now and he won't be back, chances are he could have put a weaker side out in the FA Cup (and calling it a 3rd string side is a bit of a stretch don't you think?) but we'll never know. If you started supporting Swansea because Laudrup came here and are now upset, considering our club's even recent history surely you know that these gripes are beyond trivial to us. Hate the Swans now? fine, bye bye and thanks for your support while it lasted, life's too short brother. Taking any opportunity to slag us off now smacks of pedantic bitterness, so you may be better of 40 odd miles down the motorway with the capital boys!
It was poor team selection and even poorer substitute options, Monk made a good start but for me this one match shows his deficiencies and lack of experience. Yesterday's game was a chance to reach the quarter finals of which is arguably the best cup competition in Europe, and we failed the test miserably. Pundits such as Roy Keene labelling the club as shameful, a sad inditement of where we are. I am now sure that Monk will only be in charge until the end of the season and will be replaced by an experienced manager by the start of next season. I believe we will lose to Napoli and Liverpool and we then have a must win game against Palace, Monk must get the selection and tactics right over coming weeks, premier league survival is imperative.
So on that premise ,you'd be happy to see a 3rd team out on Thursday so we can field a strong team on Sunday ? same horse different jockey .
Slagging off decisions isn't slagging off the team , just because your a stand behind decisions no matter how stupid the decision is , don't expect everyone else to jump on the band wagon and be so excepting . The team and organization are losing there reputation as the team to be like .
Injuries, you mean Michu, Pozuelo and Shelvey, they are our only injuries are they not? Who else is injured, to have required us to field such a weakened team? Tremmel, a good keeper, but well off the boil this season, so nowhere near first team keeper, other than for when he filled in for Vorm during his injury. Only 4 of the team used against Everton were deemed first teamers. Tremmel at a push based on performances from him. ML had used 7. So there is a huge difference. The issue with Graham comes from the fact he left us in the January window, but up until that point, Graham had made 18 league appearances, more than half of those were starts, and 23 overall, so was definitely used more than the likes of Vasquez. Over twice as often. So I very much have him down as a first teamer.
I wasn't aware that we had a third team... I know we have a first team, U21 and a U18 team (and so on). Is it one of those you are thinking about? Or is it the one with Amat, Taylor, de Guzman, Canas, Routledge and Hernandez you are thinking about?
When we were infested with injuries, nobody wanted to tackle the problems Laudrup was having because of it . Now that Laudrup was "Convienently " dismissed as the injuries were healing , people use possible injuries , to a basically healthy team , as a arguement in favor of the new manager decision making
I will say when I saw the lineup I thought that ok Monk has made his priority the Napoli match and fair enough, pick one or the other, so it will be very interesting to see the side he puts out on Thursday and also on Sunday v Liverpool. Mr Monk will have to be careful and prioritise his games as I would have thought that PL survival is Priority #1.
Yes, I mean Michu, Pozuelo and Shelvey, but they might not be so important to you..? Tremmel has been our first team keeper in the last three to four months. That's about half a season.. Michu was our striker and Danny Graham was his backup. Ergo not a first teamer. Anyway, I think you get my point. And I get yours. If Laudrup had been our manager and done the same thing, nobody would have argued. Laudrup fielded a weakened team in the FA Cup last year against Arsenal, still stating that he wanted to win. He's team setup said something different, but he doesn't get murdered in the media or here. Garry Monk fields a lesser team than Laudrup did, but against a lesser opponent, still stating that he wanted to win. He, on the other hand get's murdered here and in the media. Wonder why...?
I agree with you musty, Prem survival is no 1 priority, but for me there was no excuses for putting up a back 4 like that against a team like Everton. That was an appalling decision if you ask me. I criticised ML's line up against Liverpool before the Capital One cup final, and I am criticising GM's line up against Everton. There is no excuse for it. We have one of the easiest run ins on paper in the Prem, we are 4 points clear of the relegation zone, and IMO are only 7 points short of the survival mark (inc our GD), as I cannot see the clubs down to bottom reaching 36 points, not all of them anyway, and can see at least 3 or more falling short of that mark. And thats if we are only to pick up 7 points from our remaining fixtures, which tbh I cannot see us doing, I can see us picking a minimum of 12, taking your pick of points taken from Palace, West Brom, Norwich, Villa, Sunderland, Newcastle, Hull, Southampton. We would only have to draw all of those games to survive in my opinion. As thats 8 points. And I honestly cannot see Cardiff or Fulham hitting 35 points, and Sunderland haven't got an easy run in either. They may just scrape 35. Neither have Norwich got an easy run, as if Norwich don't pick up 10 points in the next 8 games, they can kiss their season good bye as they will most likely not pick up any points in their final 4.
So what we saw was a 1st team ? I wonder if you'd be so happy if we got battered (look at their chances missed) .A game we were not going to win even before going onto the pitch. You're happy fine , it's all about opinions and yours is one I don't agree with.
I would have been as disapproving if Laudrup,Mourinho or any other manager who put out a side like that .Vavquez a lone striker FFS
does anyone know who puts the rubber stamp on the transfers, whoever it is needs shooting as some have been terrible
