Quelle surprise, we finally lose a game and all the Utd fans et al are suddenly back stinking up the place like fortnight old bin juice. I'm disappointed we lost today but not disappointed we're out of the FA Cup, didn't think we'd win the competition so it's no loss, now we concentrate on the league and see what we can do there. I only saw the second half... it looked like we had a lot of the best of it and the possession stats were in our favour but we just weren't taking the chances like usual, all our shots seemed to go straight at the keeper. There was a Studge chance in the 2nd where he wanted too many touches to go round when one or two would have done, then shoot. To be fair to Arsenal they were obviously looking a lot better than last time and defending pretty resiliently. I'll not comment on Howard Webb and let the silence ringing out at the end of this post be condemnation enough, if he's the best ref this country's got I'm fricking Suarez.
Yeah, that's true. I think a previous poster nailed it ; you dominated November, we dominated last week, today was more even - a typical cup tie. we missed a couple of good chances and the odd decision favoured you, but don't take that as sour grapes as these things even themselves out. It's just Webb - AGAIN!- and the twatty excuse of Luis's reputation being trotted out again as the reason why he can be gang-amputated in the box five yards away from PC Slaphead and play is waived on. Good luck with the rest of the competition, but I will be cheering the Blueshight on against you for family/friend reasons. No offence. If you beat them, I then hope you do go on to win the cup.
Talking of which, anyone know why Hendo was dropped for Lovechild, and why Ming didn't play? We don't have a game till next Sunday, don't we?
Was thinking the same when the team was announced, don't think Rodgers was resting anyone I think he underestimated the importance of the competition to us, ok it could have gone either way especially if Webb had done his job properly and Rodgers would have looked correct making unnecessary changes. But Brendan if its not broke dont fix it.
Now that we are out of it I don't really care who wins the FA Cup - though I think City have the best chance.
Rogers does have a problem on his hands as the season wears on. Our squad is thin - and we know it. We do have s few natural replacements and some 'regulars' returning. However, the are not truly match fit. Therefore he needs to let them have 'pitch time' just in case we do sustain injuries.
My first thought coming to the second half a few minutes in and seeing Jones between the sticks was **** is Mignolet alright because he must be/have been injured. Curious decision to drop him. Allen even being anywhere near our bench shows we still have improvements to make this summer. Some will give him more time than me but I just think he's useless, utter utter dross (for us I mean). I think Wigan will win it again, tough ask against this season's City but there's something about them. Finally, let's have a mutual back slap for being quality fans, LFC fans the best in the game, as for example double Ds post shows.
Call me old fashioned Dave but the players train every day and the younger players are still eligible for youth/under 21 games if needed, it just pisses me off when we win a game Rodgers changes the team without justification in the next.
Page there's a hell of a difference between Premiership football and youth/under 21 or reserve football Why didn't Wenga stick to his "I didn't see it" statement when asked about the 2nd penalty. By the time that he opened his mouth there was clear video evidence that it was a penalty. Just makes him look stupid!
Thought we played well and was a tad unlucky to be eliminated. But hey, that's cup football. Shows a mark of improvement considering we were thoroughly outplayed there earlier this season, we're out but at least we've given a good account of ourselves.. Roll on Swansea. Well done Arsenal
Didn't Henderson have some sort of wrist injury that he had just had operated on? Don't think jones playing had any effect not he result. He did ok for me
Not to bothered about BR changing things up, with the midweek game probably good to give a few players a rest and give others a chance. Always disappointed to lose but can't help but feel this might help us in the long run(less games for us more for Arsenal). Goes to show that we really need to strengthen both the first team and the squad if we are to compete in more than one comp next year.
I was out watching my lad play yesterday so was not on here to mod this thread, please keep match threads on topic.
This Thoroughly enjoyed the cup tie, not really upset about the result, the performance in the main part was pretty darn good. With better finishing (esp. the first two chances) we could have got a +tive result, but wasn't to be and good luck the Arsenal in the next round..
was always a very hard draw. same as everton v arsenal is a hard draw for arsenal. nobody wants to go away to a team like us or everton or arsenal or city. chelsea went out as a result, we went out as a result.
None of the press reports I have read remotely agree with your viewpoint. We deserved the win just as much as we did the previous week. Robbed by ****ing Webb - AGAIN
I also don't understand why Henderson didn't start. It was a mistake in my opinion, but the good thing is that when Rodgers makes a mistake, he nearly always learns from it.
I think we missed Hendo but at the same time I don't want to sound harsh on Allen because I thought he played well. Hendo and Allen just offer different things and we need Hendo's qualities more.
