Whilst i'm desperate to go up, i'm half thinking that i don't want us to be humiliated in the PL next season. Why not consolidate for another season and plan for the PL in 2016? Does anyone share that view or do you believe we should be in the PL if at all possible, whatever the consequences. I just don't see us competing in that league and i'd rather lower my expectations now than continually live in hope. Anyone agree?
I would have agreed if it was a plan to consolidate that we had started last summer. This way it will be a wasted season. We are going to buy a new squad in the summer anyway, might as well be for the Prem.
I've got you down as going up via the playoffs as when it comes to the playoffs, players like Barton etc will drag you up with their experience and I can't believe a manager of Redknapps ability will fail to get you promoted as if he screws this up then he has let the club down.
Leicester fan in peace. I actually hope that you do go up because if you don't then I believe that you will be jiggered, but only because the FFP rules are gonna cripple you, what do you think? (this is not a wumming post by the way)
Worried that TF will cut his losses and head for the hills Worried about the ludicrous financial fair play rules designed to allow the big clubs to get bigger (I suspect we will be first in the queue for the European Court) Worried that without any decent youth scheme in place we will always need to buy a team if and when we do get promoted
How? Our owners sponsors us, quite easy to up the sponsorship to anything he wants. I believe we are better off not going up and getting rid of redknapp than going up and keeping him, it will be worse than Hughes if we go up.
Aren't alot of the high earners are on short-term contracts or have contracts running out anyway? correct me if im wrong, but thought i read a thread saying you guys would haveto overhaul the team regardless of what league your in. It wouldn't be a big loss with the parachute payments, i guess this is what will keep clubs like QPR from breaking financial fair play. I'v heard that this doesn't fly, would be the same with us as King Power owns everything, but apparently it doesn't avoid FFP, same with Man City.
15 odd players out of contract, the loans bring it to over 20, more players like Austin and Phillips and less like zamora, AJ, green, young (that's 150k a week) will be much better for us both on and off the pitch.
They are some good players to build a squad around next year, regardless of division, but im not sure Harrys the man to do it if its Championship level next year.
They asses the sponsorship,if they believe it to be way above the Championship norm they wont take it as valid.
I completely agree with Stan on this Didn't Man City sell some "intellectual rights" to their ladies team to help comply with the regulations. I have no doubt that our financial and legal people will be more than a match for UEFA's.
As I don't have any interest in the top of the table good luck, you can still do it,believe and anything is possible.
There's not a single player I'd consider bringing back apart from Faurlin and yes got a torn acl. We've got about half a team in Onuoha, Simpson, Austin, Philips, Hoilett and Traore in contract in the summer. I do not want to trust redknapp filling in the rest, it will be another 15 players in their mid 30s.
IMO both Stan & Flyer are correct. Stan, in that we would have wasted a whole season (I think we have wasted over 18 months) not to be promoted this season. Flyer, in that we are not ready for the Premier & won't ever be with our current philosophy. I still say that we missed our chance when TF appointed Harry in an attempt to beat relegation. That was when we should have started rebuilding.
When you see so-called 'top drawer' players like BAE walking around like a tit in a trance as he did for McCleary's goal it would almost certainly be a case of Harry bringing in more of the same if we go up, frankly I'm beginning to hope we miss out and get a reality check...
