"It's going to be topsy-turvy" warns Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill.

Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill reflected on a nine-point haul from seven tough games and insisted his team had "done okay."

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill is urging disappointed supporters to put yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Tranmere Rovers into perspective.

Expectation levels among City fans were understandably raised by last Tuesday’s stunning 3-1 win at title contenders Leyton Orient.

But having reached what could have been a major turning point, the Robins were unable to take full advantage by beating fellow strugglers Tranmere.

Addressing that very issue, Cotterill reasoned: “If we had drawn at Orient and taken three points at home to Tranmere, everybody would have been saying ‘what a great week’ we’d had.

“I don’t think we should lose sight of that, especially given that this is a side that has not been used to winning for some time now.

“I think this season will be a little bit topsy-turvy all the time.

“Believe me, the players tried to win this game and they’ve put in a really good shift since I came through the door. We didn’t quite have it in us.

“We want to play good attacking football and, if we can sustain that for longer periods, we will win games.”

Forced to play seven games in 21 days, three of them away from home against League One’s top three teams, City have emerged from that busy spell with nine points from 21.

They are unbeaten in three games and bare finally out of the bottom four after months spent in the drop zone.

“We’ve done okay, but no better than that,” added Cotterill. “I would have liked to take 11, but we couldn’t get past Tranmere.

“You have to take the points when they come and none of the other sides around us have picked up much this weekend.

“It’s another point on the board and we just have to look forward to Sheffield United next Saturday.”

    Sums it up

On the other hand I would say, could have done better. Some good results, some bad results and some indifferent results.
Sums up our season but there is no disguising that lack of wins is still costing us dear

The fact is we beat orient and gained three points excellent,we SHOULD have taken three points against Tranny but we did not.

FACT that is not good enough.

Apart from Baldock which had his best gone for a very long time the rest need to hang their heads in shame.

No game you have a divine right to points, you have to work bloody hard,as in any job.

Sorry that was a pathetic effort yesterday by a highly paid, underachieving side.

Perhaps they should introduce performance related pay for footballers.

Cotterill needs to engage his brain before opening his mouth.
    Tired ??? FFS.

Tell your poor tired squad to try working for a living.
After that sh*t yesterday I’d have had them running up and down the Dolman all day today.

What they’re lacking is not energy but motivation and a fu**ing game plan. That’s down to Cotterill.
The difference was stark between how Tranmere played an our pathetic attempt.

I wonder if Cotterill ever thinks how tired we are.
Me - I’m fu**ing exhausted watching the tripe served up at Ashton Gate.

Professional sport is different to normal work - the margins between success and failure can be quite small and 7 games in 21 days will take it's toll

We should not confuse a poor performance with lack of effort

'We should not confuse a poor performance with lack of effort'

    Most tried their nuts off.
What they’re lacking is motivation and a fu**ing game plan.
When Reid came on for Cunningham he looked totally bemused left side and within minutes was anywhere but left side.
He's hasn't played these last few games so 'tired' doesn't come into it.

Open your eyes and say what you see - FFS don't believe a word Cotterill says.
I repeat - What they’re lacking is motivation and a fu**ing game plan.

Dont forget we're also lacking a leader in midfield. Still our Achilles Heel and never been addressed under successive managers

You won't see a fully for Kelly until at least August.
