You're being a bit pedantic. Nevertheless.......

We're stuck with an owner we don't want and the best solution seems to be to stop people going to games.

Can you give us some advise on how to do this? You're doing a cracking job. <ok>

    How am I being pedantic?

You claimed I'd defended the attendance, I didn't.

Then, you can't just accept that so say 'possibly' ........ that's being pedantic mate <ok>

You argued the toss giving every excuse possible why people shouldn't have went to the match, or was someone else using your computer? Possibly the same bloke who made several comments on a "Micky quinn doesn't like us" thread while your match was on.

I was there and in the end pleased I went, as I got to see us play without Altidore (I am assuming that Fletcher might be out for the rest of the season) and have first sight of Scocco.

Apart from Southampton being gash we were okay

This!..My comments on this thread were in no way aimed at supporters living away from the area or supporters who couldn't afford to go to the game. However, for a club with the fan base we have got, it was still an absolutely shocking attendance for a 5th Round FA Cup tie: probably our lowest ever..
I'm old enough to remember the 5th round replay against Man City in 1973 when 50 odd thousand tickets were sold in a day. That game still represents one of my best nights as a Sunderland supporter...I suppose I just find it sad why our fans seem to shun this great historic competition these days..

I didn't defend the attendance which is what you accused me of.

I've every right to explain why I chose not to go and why I either know, or believe, other people chose not to go.

But I didn't defend the attendance which was poor ....... but who am I to talk, I didn't go.

It's not just us, which is my point ........ the cup competitions are sadly pushed down in their importance by various factors.

Cardiff managed the same amount of home supporters in a match they had a good chance of winning and reaching the quarter finals.

I'm budgeting for a series of relegation matches, a weekend in London and possible semi final/final matches.

I'd imagine many people are doing the same.

The club didn't help by declaring it was a match they'd be happy to lose and would be fielding a virtual reserve side.

Southampton fielded a weakened side and managed a few hundred supporters, what's their excuse?

20 Yeats since I joined my first band with the very same dream. Now I'm a solo act working the pubs and clubs. Soul destroying at times. But, on the plus side, I have a song being released by a small local label later this year. Could be my big chance! But I enjoyed recording it regardless I'd how it does

For FA cup games I believe the clubs have their hands tied over ticket prices.

If the club gave st holders free cup games then the club would have to remunerate the visiting club based upon the full ticket price.

I also think (although I stand to be corrected on any of these points) that this applies equally to reduced tickets prices - we would have to pay the visiting club their share based upon the normal ticket face value rather than gate receipts.

So if you reduce the price of tickets the attendance does go up however it will effectively cost the club more money.

Are we at the point where being a ST holder no longer guarantees a cup final ticket but rather cup final games attended - controversial I grant you, however this is the only way I can see of ensuring attendances increase, otherwise what is the incentive for going to cup games?
