Super Cup is that game played between the CL winner and the Uefa Cup winner. Atletico won it last year, beating Inter. Edit: oops, forgot to refresh...
Isnt that the Uefa Super Cup? Why is there 2 lol. Or is it the Italian one? lol. Seriously can someone link me to some info about it. Im interested as I have never heard of a second Super Cup.
Its like that tin pot cup you lot won when you got knocked out of the World club cup by Vasco de Gama and two other teams that were made up of shepherds and bin men.You beat Sao Paolo in a one off game to win it.
Its definitely not the Uefa Super Cup which is the game between the CL/EC winners and the Europa/Uefa cup winners. Liverpool have only 3 of those according to Uefas official stats.
http://www.nozdrul.plus.com/zfeweb/england/supercup.html Oh, this thing, it really was a nothing competition, totally awful and pointless, I'd say. We did beat Man Utd to it though!
I'm not sure our wartime titles or the fact Utd won the FA Cup 30 years ago is at all relevant. Think we have to agree that both teams have now reached a point where their history in terms of success is fairly inseparable, but we can also surely all agree Utd are the top club in England at the moment if a player has no prior loyalties. Utd fans say we 'live in the past' and we deny it and yet here both sides are arguing over the same old things. Our 2 clubs have the biggest global appeal in the most popular league in the world, and whilst Utd are significantly ahead with the stadium, it is not completely out of order to say we could catch your level of revenue in 10 years with the right management and on-field success, and further more with regards individual players i think a few league titles would make us equally popular to prospective players in the future. This is much easier said than done but at least makes these arguments relevant to the topic. Agree on the importance of Kenny, not many managers have the legend status he does and absolutely nobody could sell the club to a player like he could.
A bit like the trophy Man United claimed was so important in 1999 that they had to pull out of the FA Cup for,and was in reality a jolly up to Brazil. Skrtels nips. Excellent post. If anyone can take us back to the promised land its Kenny. He's been there, seen it,done it.For clubs the first one after a long period is the hardest to win, then it gets easier.Man United found that out after a 26 year wait from 1967-1993.
Yeah, I've just looked back at the list MFG posted. I genuinely don't know what 'super cup' refers tor...
Best post of the night. We may both bask in our respective history but the only thing that really matters is our future. Good post sir
