I wouldn't be so sure about Ashley sacking him even if Villa do beat us. It might just mean another defeat, Mike not caring and Pards still in charge. So best we all hope for a victory and a return to some good gorm.

One thing you can be certain of on here, plenty of gorm.

<laugh> fat fingers - obviously meant 'form', but maybe gorm is more likely.

If it wasn't against my religion, I'd hope for a defeat against Villa. Just to read the inevitable multiple breakdowns and anti Pardew rants. Always makes me smile.

I've heard that Declan Donnelly is going to be at the game, he's supposed to have a seat in the lower tier in the GG end.

He might be a lucky mascot for us.

What does everyone think the attendance will be for this game? Curious as I'd expect a significant drop, but I may be wrong.

I don't think there'll be much less than usual, it's a bad habit that people can't get rid of. There wont be as many empty seats as Villa usually get.

    I don't think they've got a Messiah.

We should get at least 48-49,000. The bulk of that will be ST holders and the deficit to the 52,000 capacity will be mainly down to Villa and their **** support.

    I expect a whisker under 50k.

As for Pards out, who do we want in ?

I can't see Laudrup wanting to manage the Mike Ashley way and there's no one else that inspires enthusiasm.

Our season is effectively over: we aren't going down, we won't make the European places and we're out of the cups. We might as well wait until we have a bit of time and selection to pick a replacement.

As you say, our season is effectively over, so we may as well wait and see who's available before thinking of a replacement.

Freddd - I know what you are saying but to me its the perfect time to sack him IF you are going to in the summer anyway. We won't go down so why wait till the summer. You could put someone popular in charge like Beardo to get the fans back onside. You'll get a nice little honeymoon period a la most new managers. If not, what have you lost? Yeah you may drop further down the table than you would if he was here but that is a small chip to stake in the grand scheme of things.

Don't get me wrong I think it is harsh on Pardew as he has done quite well if you look at the support he has had financially and dealing with the constant upheaval off the pitch. The Newcastle job has the potential to be a very good job. Looking from the outside though, it looks a poisoned chalice when compared with other jobs. Operating a PL club as a profit making company is bucking the trend completely. Most make losses, some of them huge. The price of getting to the big show and staying there is pretty high.

Its pretty futile hypothetical conversation of course because the one man who is probably satisfied with the manager is the man who would make the call - Mike Ashley. Most said if we achieved top 10 then it would be a successful season (this seems to have shift now after a bad run), that was a realistic goal. This was also Ashley's goal. To achieve that despite not having your best player for half the season and 22m in the bank means he is probably pretty low on Ashley's **** list.

I think if Pardew is not sacked within the next few weeks (results pending obviously) he will def not be sacked in the summer. I just can't see it. If the guy can ride out the Reading debacle and the back to back defeats of Sunderland and Liverpool he can probably ride this out. I think we will get a result against Villa. Villa and Newcastle are very similar in the fact that they tend to give a team who is doing badly a result out of the blue. Then again we could easily hand the victory on a plate to Villa but I think with Remy, Colo and Gouffran playing we will probably get at least a draw.

As much as I don't really don't want Pardew here I fear who would come in next. I just sense Ashley would stick in the worse sort of bottom feeder, a guy far, far worse than Pardew just out of sheer ****iness.

I'm not entirely sure I would sack Pardew. I do think that sacking him now, though would be counter productive.

It is going to be a hard sell to get anyone decent to take the job anyway. One of the few things you could say to a prospective manager is: "You'll get a fair crakc of the whip. Pardew had a run of bad results at least twice and I didn't do the usual panic sacking thing you see at most clubs." If you panic sack him now you lose even that selling point.

I actually think there's a fair chance that Ashley might be able to find someone with the + £220m that he's need to get his money back and that he may be gone by September. If so, you'd like to leave the purchaser with all available options as far as management goes - - including winning popularity points by being the person who sack Pardew (which, rightly or wrongly, would surely be earned).
