Makes you wonder why we even tried against Man Utd...if the cup doesn't mean anything we should have dropped out at the first tie. Monk has screwed up big time. This was an opportunity missed no question about it.
Exactly. We bothered against Man U because Laudrup picked a team to compete rather than take one in the ass.
It's clear we didn't want to go any futher in this competition, not playing Bony game over!...............
Considering the team monks fielded they were superb first half. Didn't expect to win it but rather go out of cup with main players uninjured and fringe players giving a good showing even though the 3 goals they gave away were sloppy. A fit A team for Napoli and more importantly the league so not as bad as it could have been today.
Proud that we've thrown away an opportunity to progress to the QF for the first time? The selection today is very odd. I would have put a weaker team out against Napoli, not today. Players would then have had a full week to recover for Liverpool. Unless of course, Europe was not just a ML ego trip, and it does really matter to the club. Players have put in a good shift overall, I just think the game was there to be has if Monk had shown more tactical awareness and brought Bony on when we were gaining the upper hand early in the second half.
We've never looked like scoring in the second half. Superb would be if we were winning the match. We haven't been superb, just not as bad as we imagined.
You reckon playing our A team makes sense vs Napoli?...do we then throw the game against Liverpool with another weakened team?
