Didn't need visas for anything. The British Government introduced passports in 1917 as a temporary measure for the duration of the war.
In 2013, British citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 173 countries and territories, ranking the British passport 1st in the world (tied with Finnish and Swedish
we starting making Indian citizens pay for visas to get in to the uk.. so they did it to us .... true!
Yeah in nucleur weapon development and a space programme - just ignore the starving and homeless. I know you do brilliant work out there Yorkie, but how can anyone defend the ridiculous investment the government makes - just like ours I suppose though!
how the Indians spend our aid money is up too then aircraft carriers space agencys nuclear warheads poor people maybe the Indians should be sending the uk some aid money

Morning all, bright and sunny in rural France this morning. Out for dinner today with friends and we are trying somewhere new that is a cross between a French restaurant and an English pub. Hope that the food is better than some pubs I have been into. Have a good day wherever you are in the world.
Morning all from a bright and sunny but chilly bandit country - had a lot of ice scraping to do first thing when I dropped Little Miss W_Y at the station at 07.30
They have virtually no concept of social service........ the economy is the worst form of capitalism with corruption etc etc.... I guess all emerging economies go through this phase. England was like it into the beginning of the 20th Century. I cant see the Indian govt needing aid from the UK... .and I believe that is being scaled right back. The political system is as corrupt as most. However there are millions of people suffering from poverty and illness etc. Unfortunately the politics of the region... relations with Pakistan and China, mean they have to be armed as a world power. They are now I think more populated than China..... and have the potential to have a strong economy. .... However I do not buy the daily mail brouhaha of not giving aid to developing countries etc etc. I guess most people don't know about the floods in Malawi which killed many people last week, for example. We are in this day and age world citizens and have a global responsibility. And even the most right wing tory will tell you that trade comes with aid. Furthermore if we don't continue to work closely with developing countries.... China is already in there.. They have bought swathes of land in Africa, whole sea ports there too, and have a whole Chinese town in Mauritius/Seychelles ( cant remember before breakfast!) for example which is entirely Chinese. I have seen what they have done in Tibet. Like all major powers we give an agreed % of our budget on aid... I think around 0.56%. Not a lot eh....... and how much do we spend on nuclear armaments etc! Anyway back to the visa thing.... We charge them, they then decide to charge us.... something quite balanced in that!!
if that's the Aussie Coopers that you're having, you have my attention. Wouldn't thank you for the others though....
