Apparently - and I don't know how much this can be true - we wanted the tickets to be £10 today, but Southampton refused? Can this be right? x
Just on small crowds at cup-ties, a day with weather much the same as yesterday back in the 50s drew about 12,000 in the fifth round against SheffU. In 73 league gates were about 8-10,00 but shot up when the cup run started with the replay against Notts Co of all teams. Moral is, people's money and life style is their business and got nowt to do with anybody else.
The club could've offered me money to go and I'd have refused. In the next month I have a Wembley weekend, a quarter final somewhere, 2 trips to the SOL and an away match at Norwich. I wouldn't have driven up to Sunderland, at 8.30am, for a match which the club had stated they'd rather lose than draw and announced the reserve team to play in.
Gus was so desperate for a result one way or the other today that he asked me to play center forward Then he remembered he had Jozy x
To quote 'Somebodys pinched my sombrero', "Nobody's having a pop at your personal support smug, you've more than served your apprenticeship over the years, but today's attendance is pretty much indefensible." No doubt Somb & Durham Stag will be along shortly to defend that **** Newcastle attendance ......... tbh, Harper's on the bench so that could be any match over the last 20 years. There must have been 40,000 Geordies screaming at their kids that day
Terrible crowd. In our defence, it was in the 3rd round against inferior opposition, not the 5th round against a Premier side. It was a **** crowd though, as was yours yesterday, but no doubt they'll all be crying for tickets if you get to the final.
"..............that attendance is pretty much indefensible." The standard Mag defence, to your sub 15,000 gates in the top division are usually ..... 'it was raining', 'there was a metro strike' or 'wed had 2 home games in a week'. Do you all have to learn this ****e at some kind of special school
Of course I accept it, I've never said anything different. Before we go any further, just remind me where I said that ..............
Ffs, there was a thread on here on Friday excusing the poor crowd because the metro wasn't running, yet they're our excuses? Possibly you haven't denied it was a bad crowd, but you sure as hell argued the toss for it last night.
So will or does this draw have some meaning if its the quarters , whats going to change from the last round and this forth coming one, our league placement wont be much different to what it is now when this game takes place
