Scrums in union are the biggest joke in sport.

They consist of the ref shouting out how to scrum instructions, which appear to change every season.

Meanwhile some big men touch each other up, then engage in a bit of pushing and thrusting before finally collapsing on top of each other in a heap. They then recompose themselves and start the process all over again.

This continues for 5+ minutes before the ref finally blows for a penalty. Of course he's no idea which side is at fault, so whom he penalises is a random choice.

The other side then kicks the ball into touch or kicks a penalty.

    I think you're misunderstanding me.

I completely agree that City are the better supported club of the three, by far in terms of fans attending games. But I do think there's a **** load of people in Hull who love to dislike football and City, associating themselves with the sport of RL at the same time and tell us how much they dislike football. It's not something that can be proven either way, and it doesn't matter anyway because these people are of no consequence since they clearly don't attend games.

FC closed down and ceased to exist in the late 90's

The spongers who play Rugby league at the KC are really Gateshead Thunder

Can't understand why anyone from Hull would support them.

I hope they get relegated / or they go bust .

Do City still subsidise them each year as Mr Allam was claiming?

Trouble is too many people are taken in by the media nonsense in Hull and believe Hull is a hotbed of rugby league and the capital of the game. In reality it is a case of big fish in a puddle. Hull City have underachieved throughout their history but it is nothing in comparison to the under achievement of the rugby clubs who have been outshone by villages smaller than Driffield.

I had this exact conversation yesterday. The fact that Batley have had more success in a sport played by about 20 teams tells you everything you need to know.

most of these women haven't got a clue its so much easier to win trophy's in rugby i think some of them think the whole of England plays the game when as we all know its a couple of county's plus London and a French team. Fourteen teams now reducing to twelve and two of them are from Hull, they make a big thing of making the play-offs (top 8) when in any other sport finishing sixth would be half way up the league which is not much of an achievement. don't get me wrong you do get some good games when the top teams play but how any one can watch it when its a big score something like 26 -6 at half time i don't know

A friend of mine works at the KC on Hull FC match days, helping to look after the PA system, and she told me about the way they manipulate their attendance figures.

For example, at their game v Catalans on Friday night, the ACTUAL attendance figure was 7,800. However, for official purposes they "do an Arsenal", and include all season pass holders, which boosted it up to about 9,800, which suggests that 2,000 season pass holders didn't even go to the first Super League game of the new season! Even that wasn't enough though, as they then added a few hundred more on to make it a five-figure number, announcing the "official" crowd as being 10,178.

    "Rugby town." :emoticon-0140-rofl:

That's exactly what I was saying. The manipulation of the attendance figures is done so FC's crowd is not beaten by Rovers attendance today v Leeds. HKR are expecting a record home crowd and the local media have been saying all week that it is a 'sell-out' whilst also pointing out that tickets are still available. Plus included in the 'record' 10,000 crowd is a couple of thousand freebies for schoolkids, which is a good idea at the start of half term and something City should be doing more.
Fez asks 'why are we bothered?'
Because the same media are quick to jump down our throats if we DO NOT sell out the KC stadium as though it is a god given right, whilst still labelling Hull as a rugby town at every opportunity and bigging up their attendances. It certainly matters to them.

    It's a myth.

I've worked in several schools across the city and I can definitely say the average classroom contains far more kids into football than rugby, which provides a pretty good indication of how the full picture looks too.

Moreover, look around your workplace. See how many of your colleagues are rugby fans and how many are football fans, even if they're not "proper" fans who go to games.

To suggest that any city has more rugby fans than football fans is absurd. It's the national sport for good reason. I lived in Cardiff for a while, which is as big a hotbed of rugby as anywhere on the planet, but there was still no getting away from the fact that more people were interested in football, even though Cardiff were in the doldrums at the time.
