About this time I always remember the run in predictor:

    http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/runin.html

We are currently 12th.... On current 8 game form we would finish 10th on 65 points. 74 points looks to be the minimum for 6th place.

Looking at Mexican's 10 game thread we are picking up form again.......

I know it is TOO early.... but can we do it.... realistically??

I think we will just miss out of a play off place - but I am OK with that this season. Just hope that the Steptoe's blow it and go into financial free fall. - going for broke with buying that yob from West Ham

I remember doing the old bbc 606 predictor and we never did as good as most predicted..... One match at a time will tell.

Clearly more is needed to get the team balance right.......

The gap at his stage between 5th and 6th is seven points so being realistic we are just talking about pinching 6th place with a lot of clubs between us and that at the moment. I for one am very relieved to have picked up 10 from the last 12 points because if we liked it or not over the three previous months we were free falling down the league on points we were picking up from those games.

Whilst you cannot argue about the stats under Beppe goals conceded at home, points in last few games etc we are playing a risky game plan and one I feel many teams at the top end of the table would be able to pick apart unless as per the Brighton game we play them on an off day of . Interestingly enough I think the Watford of this time last season would give this present tatic based Watford a spanking but that of course is irrelevant.

If we can start winning away then I will believe we have an outside chance of getting into 6th spot. Beppe seems to have fixed the home "problem", but we have not won away since early October. Draws at this stage are probably not enough.

Funnily enough I was going to start a similar thread Yorkie. The last four games have been massive for us. With 16 games to play we can be pretty sure that we are not going down. Even on Yeovil's points per game we would have 53 and that is more than enough to stay up. We could not have been so confident about that four games ago.

So how likely is a promotion push? If you look at the net 6 games they are all very winnable - against 5 of the bottom 6 sides plus Blackpool who are on a terrible run. Win those six and with other teams playing each other we would be in or around the top 6. We would then be the form horse and with 59 points from 36 games we could realistically shoot at 2 points per game thereafter and suddenly 79 or 80 points and even an automatic place looks possible. Even from here 2 points per game would take us to 73 points - that is the average number of points the sixth placed side has achieved over the last ten years. (seventh place averaged 71).

It is all on those next six games. Mexican's 10 game thread was very insightful.

For me we are simply not a good enough side to maintain that degree of consistency over that many games. My guess is we will get around the mid 60's and finish a respectable 8th or so.

    But we can dream ......

I think we'll finish 6th, how many of us will survive to see it is another thing entirely... the way Sannino sets up games we're in for many tight finishes and heartstopping moments, would we have it any other way? Zolas attacking style and a lot more possession with Sanninos shutting up shop barn door across the goal would make my life prospects better!!!

Sadly I think we are all playing for 6th and Reading certainly look like they are good enough to hold on.

QPR might be the ones who slip out for somebody else.

At least we are looking up the table now, before it was a bit worrying...

Far too early to tell. At present i think it would be very worrying if we did get promotion. The current side would be ripped apart in the EPL and a new team provided by the Pozzos would take time to gel. On the other hand, again given the way the Pozzos work, I could see our best players leaving if we don't get promotion.

More worrying is the game against Yeovil. We need to win that and win it well to keep the confidence up.

However, if you really push me I think we will finish 7th or 8th.

I am a bit worried we seem to be getting a reputation for time -wasting/diving again (funny that just as we win a few games...) so no doubt a ref will pick up on it and give something against us..

Current run-in forecast has us as 10th

    http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/runin.html

Home results are good... so we have to win some away.... better a win/defeat rather than draw/draw
Here are our final games ( thanks Mexican <ok>)

    With my ever hopeful predictions
    Doncaster V Watford Tue 11 Mar 19:45 3 points
    Watford V Barnsley Sat 15 Mar 15:00 3points
    Wigan V Watford Sat 22 Mar 15:00 1 point
    Watford V Blackburn Tue 25 Mar 19:45 1 point
Sheff Wed V Watford Sat 29 Mar 15:00 3 points
    Watford V Burnley Sat 5 Apr 15:00 1 point
    Watford V Leeds Tue 8 Apr 19:45 3 points
    Millwall V Watford Sat 12 Apr 15:00 3 points
    Watford V Ipswich Sat 19 Apr 15:00 1 point
    QPR V Watford Mon 21 Apr 15:00 1 point
    Derby V Watford Sat 26 Apr 15:00 1 point
    Charlton V Watford Tue 29 Apr 19:45 3 points
    Watford V Huddersfield Sat 3 May 12:15 3 points

    With my ever hopeful predictions
That would be 27 points making a total of 72 points and 7th
I think we would need 31 points to make 6th

All flights of fantasy really.... but......

If you can't dream until it is mathmatically over then you are lost in pessimism.
