Do you donate money to charity?

For 22 years (1988-2010) I sponsored a child in Africa - £15 quid a month. Paid for their education, health care, schooling, that sort of thing.

Was one of the very few things that made me feel (slightly) good about myself, that I wasn't / amn't a waste of skin.

Hit a financial speedbump early last year, so suspended the gig. But gonna reinstitute the arrangement soon enough.

FFS- its like less than 50pence a day! You pay more for a Mars Bar or a pkt of crisps, and you're saving someone's life.

Let those hypocritical rich celebrities such as Bob Geldof, Bono, musicians and the Children In Need actors donate for once

To be fair we as country scrap our aircraft carriers an harriers then donate more than we can afford to countries producing terrorists ... Mental... If we had no homeless people an no ****ers living in poverty then I could understand donating money...

 

The only charity I regulary dontate to monthly by direct debit is sense, a charity for deaf-blind children. I don't give money to beggars as you don't kno who's taking the piss, but there's a couple of people I know that are genuinely homeless and when I'm in town if I see them I take them to a pub for a meal and a pint and a chat. It's easy for the ignorant to write homeless people off as wasters or lazy bastards or scum bags, but it doesn't take much sometimes to end up with nowt.
