I presume that was aimed at me as I haven't got a season ticket this year.(I had three last season) I'll tell you what's pissing me off. Loads of people I know who are crying for a final ticket who hardly ever go now. They're like victims of William Roach. You hear **** all from them for 40 years, then they all pipe up at once. ****ing sickening. As I said, for the people who've got them, great. The rest can go and **** right off.
Love from Robbie Savage now on five live for the attendance. Personally thought low attendance reduced expectation on players and they thrived under it. the likes of giacc and catts were afforded a bad touch or two without the crowd getting on their backs. Motm: Cattermole
You're guessing. Many people go as often as they can. If they have the money and opportunity they can go to every game. If they don't they have to choose, just as I, my sons and my mates have to. I have 2 mates flying in for the final, one from Hong Kong and the other from Australia. Should they have chosen to fly over today for Sunderland reserves v Southampton reserves of a weekedn in London watching their team play at Wembley? Multiply that and that's why the argument doesn't stack up. I have a mate, who's a great Sunderland supporter, who I used to stand in the Fulwell with. He now lives in Devon, has loads of kids and is down on his luck. He's taken out a loan to take his lads to Wembley. Are you saying he should've come today instead?
Yes, I do, season card, every home game, I take people along with me who don't go, I've introduced many people who'd never been, some now season card holders who COULD be arsed to go today. Going to the other end of the country for an away game is excusable, like you say about being in France, often. Not going to a home game cos it 'wasn't attractive', that is not support. If you are seriously trying to pull me up on not going to a midweek away game at the other end of the country, compared to a Saturday home game, then you can get to ****, it is not a comparison. I have my cup final tickets by the way, earned with years of endless support, even whilst living in Spain. Get to **** if you are trying to compare me to some ****er who 'loves the club' and doesn't attend. They don't attend through CHOICE and are FOLLOWERS not SUPPORTERS. A million times we have stated, me RAW , others, this is not aimed at exiled fans, same applies to non exiles being questioned about a theoretical 700 mile midweek round trip.
FFS nobody cares about the cups until there is a realistic chance to win. The problem is with the structure and incentives of the cups and league that nowadays make them uuterly pointless. If it was something to criticise the fans for, then you criticise 95% of club fans in England. Only really the top top clubs maintain 'similar' attendance levels. Its the way things are in the game, not an isolated issue. FFS.
Nobody is having a pop at you man, its not all about you!!!! Its the twats who live local and could afford it who chose not to go. The same people who will be desperate for final tickets if we get there.
Of course people will always want to cheer their team at Wembley in a final ........... just as they're not wild about watching Kidderminster or Saints reserves. Does anyone believe Poyet will play a weakened side in the cup final? It goes hand in hand ....... more commitment from the club, more from the fans. I don't see how anyone should wonder why tbh. BTW, I know this isn't all about me, I'm only answering for myself and particularly about the aspects that concern me ........ I assume we all do that, including you.
I'm not guessing, I know quite a lot, and I have no sympathy for them. Right, I said in post 22, I've got no problem with people who live far away or genuinely can't afford it, but you are disregarding what I've said and instead seem intent on having a bit of personal attack on myself. Crack on.
If you live in the Sunderland area the entrance price is 50% of the total cost of the day. If you live elsewhere, as thousands do, the ticket price is **** all compared to the total cost. If Sunderland had offered me £100 to attend today I'd have refused ........ the cost would be way too high to watch our reserves taking a chance on beating Southampton who we've already played 3 times.
****s knows mate, no clue how many full time employees the club have, lets have a go at figuring it out youth team reserve team first team coaches and staff for all the above catering staff ticket office admin staff liason staff the list is endless when you start - lets say 1000 x 4 each - all ****ing gone then + sunderland council got a canny few by all accounts
Again, totally disregarding the fact that this whole point was towards local stay away fans and not exiles.
Local I would suggest anything on Wearside, and to include the borough of Gateshead & Shields, so areas of high support. Shall we say, keep it simple, 20 mile radius of the SOL. And percentages of what? Withing a 20 mile radius excluding Newcastle city and surrounding (bar Gateshead), there is a realistic catchment of about 550k.
