We really need to stop talking about recreating older sides with similar players. I think its a Rafa Benitez thing personally and a lot of Liverpool fans who started looking at football from a more tactical perspective when Rafa was manager seem to think we need a Mascherano, Alonso, Kuyt etc and play a 4-2-3-1 at all times. We're all guilty of it to some extent but the funny thing is that team didn't even win anything.

I like Borini and think he deserves a chance but I'm not sure where he will fit into the team with Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho showing good form and the likes of Suso, Ibe etc breaking into the team + we're obviously looking for another wide player judging by the bid for Konoplyanka.

 

frankly borini needs to prove he can cut it cos the only slot for me is sturridg's as a reserve. i'd play him off the right or up top. but he's no sturridge.

I agree with that. He's not going to play with Sturridge & Suarez in the same line up because 3 strikers on the pitch would ruin the whole balance of the team and like you say he's no Sturridge so he isn't going to be able to replace him OR Suarez.

Once again, the stupidity of defenders rears it's head. Luiz decides to stand still, look at the linesman and put his hand in the air instead of playing on until the whistle. Because of that, he let Nasri waltz past him. Yeah, he was offside, but if he'd played on, it wouldn't have mattered because he would have been in a position to tackle him.

Said it last week (can't remember for which game) but so many defenders do it. It's silly really, just play til the whistle.
