For the first time, I can honestly say I'm very disappointed with Pochettino. The Southampton approach from before KO was not good enough.
Bitterly disappointed. We're sitting comfortably mid-table, I don't see why it was necessary to bring in the likes of Guly.
I'll not be blaming Wanyama for the loss. He didn't really do too much wrong. Not that he did anything particularly positive either. But, then again, who did? Would Cork have made a difference? I think he would. And the last substitution of Lallana for McQueen and not Wanyama (or Davis) for Cork comes across as sheer stubbornness from Pochettino. Bottom line, poor team selection first of all, but even the team selected should have done much better. Lets face it Wanyama was first choice at the start of the season and so was Ward-Prowse so it shouldn't have been that weak a team. Obviously, Lambert's miss and lack lustre performance combined with Lallana's miss and a game in which I have never seen him give the ball away as often, didn't help matters.
Terrible performance but give Sunderland some credit, they were excellent. Sent from my RM-914_eu_euro1_337 using Tapatalk
They are the only people to get any credit out of today's efforts, that's for sure. Fair play to them, and they should have free entry to a game if their choice..
We also brought Shaw, Hoover, Maya, Vic, JWP, Rickie, Adam, Davis and Kelvin. Do they share any of the blame?
Agreed. This is the first time I've found myself irritated by something MP has done. Mind you, we shouldn't have been that poor no matter what the team selection. Sunderland made more changes than we did, yet somehow seemed interested enough to win the game. Credit to them.
Davis for me has hit a rough patch of form and could do with being left out for a bit. Lambert is frustrating because he was just getting into excellent form, and that's suddenly and inexplicably disappeared again. Wanyama was fine apart from that missed tackle (which no one would expect to lead to a goal), and a couple of failed attempts to surge forward. Guly didn't do anything wrong but obviously just doesn't have the ability to get anything going. Ward-Prowse is struggling. The crossing from the fullbacks was pathetic. Those two centre backs will never be good enough for our expectations. Pochettino should have taken this competition a lot more seriously. I think that mostly covers it.
Black, everyone gets a bit iffy when things don't go we'll, but you seem to resort to abuse a little too often. No real need. It would be so much better if you debated, even argued but no need to abuse people.
Definitely. Lambert is class, but I could of farted that cross in. I also single Guly out because while most of those players you've listed have proven themselves at top level, Guly just can never perform to the standard necessary, even if it's just a cup again.
I am not going to shell out £35 for any more games this season. No ****ing point and I have better things to spend my money on.
Were they? They tried, and they were dangerous on the counter late in the game, but they weren't exactly on par with Chelsea battering us at Stamford. If not for an absolutely incredible miss we'd have drawn level, even while playing some of the worst football I can remember.
Sunderland showed more desire and we had an off day. Feel sorry for thoes that travelled but lets take the frustration out on Fat Sam!
