Couldve done with Vanilla Ice or something definitely

    -------

He also had this to say

João Carlos Teixeira made his debut for Liverpool on Tuesday night in the club's crucial victory away to Fulham. The way the team fought back to win the game has made the club genuine title contenders and Brendan Rodgers has got his men to within four points of leaders Chelsea.

The young Portuguese midfielder came on with around ten minutes to go and it was certainly a pressure situation in which to make his debut. Portuguese sport newspaper Record got to speak to the 21 year old on Thursday and said he still hadn't come down from the clouds after the excitement of the night before.

Teixeira was very positive about the club and his team mates, and told Record "I'm very happy, it was a great experience and my debut in the Premier League. And to play alongside Gerrard, Suarez and Coutinho has been very good. It was something incredible. I haven't had time to stop and think. Yesterday [Wednesday] was very full of emotions and very busy day. I received great messages, now I rest from all this, reflect and continue to work, because the coach gave me confidence and I gave him my best. I think I did well and now I will work on getting more opportunities."

The youngster is clearly fond of Rodgers and it's no surprise given the confidence Liverpool's manager has put in him. When he sent him on against Fulham he told Teixeira to shoot because Rodgers was convinced he could get the winner "He called me and told me what I had to do on the pitch. Then said to be confident and to shoot at goal too, because he believed I was going to score a goal."

It's a nice touch from Rodgers and Liverpool's captain Steven Gerrard also made sure he had some valuable words for the player after the game "The first to talk to me was Gerrard, who said this was only the beginning and that now I had to work the hardest, then get even higher. Suarez told me before the game to be calm and to enjoy the moment because it was the first time."

Record are just as impressed by Teixeira as he is by Liverpool and say the player has a tremendous will to work hard and succeed which they rightly think will serve him well.

He's another one of our young players who seems to have glue on his boots. The ball just follows his feet around and his control is amazing. Going to be a great player for us if he keeps on developing. Similar to Suso, he'll probably have another season here in and out of the first team with some sub appearances and then go off on loan for a season.

Coutinho, Suso, Alberto and Texeira are all very promising players and could save us a fortune in the future to bulk out other areas of the team.

I'm disappointed though that he didn't mention Cissokho as one of the players he was honored to play alongside. Suarez, Gerrard and Coutinho, yeah ok, they're decent, but Cissokho? Not even considered :(

Looks silky, fair play too - his pass led to the penalty on Sturridge.

Also, why have defenders still not learned to stop turning and looking at the linesman with arms raised when they think a player is offside? It just gives the attacker another second to get away. Suarez ain't the fastest around, but I bet loved the headstart they gave him.

Muppets. Just play til the whistle. I reckon 95% of defenders do it too and so many goals are given away (never mind chances) because of it.

Rodgers was right - he could've easily had a goal on that breakaway by Suarez. Good performance albeit against a knackered bottom table team, he wants the ball, does different things with the ball, and is lively without it too. Useful player to have when Coutinho or Sterling are having a bad day.

Suso is 5'10'', Tex is half an inch shorter, and though not much faster, has a bigger better rooted pace about him. This lad also doesn't seem the type of character likely to miss training sessions due to oversleeping.

Maybe the silver lining to not having bought Konoplyanka.

A good start for the lad, he gives us another option and as has been said if he makes it and along with the others we have it is saving us a small fortune.

Nothing special tbh in that video. Solid and wanted the ball, but thats about it. Suso and Tex need to take a leaf out of Coutinho's book and turn and run at defenders. We have enough Joe Allen to get the ball and lay off a simple pass.

Think Suso is doing that plus some at Almeria to be fair to him.

Taking the situation of the match and the fact he only got a few minutes you might be expecting too much. Let's give the lad the benefit of the doubt until we see more of him

I agree... for his age and experience- and coming on at a high pressure moment- think he did admirably.

I pointed out on another thread- Ibe didn't look too bad the other day either- but Tex was much more involved... definately not goal shy(or far off on his shots)... he has a hunger and looks promising. Of the two- Tex had the better cameo.

He's not going to be sending Cout to the bench any time soon- but he could evolve into a starter- or a frequently used sub over time.

I think Jaffa is right to some extent in that he didn't really do anything special. However, given it's his debut, coming in when it''s 2-2 - he looked confident to get on the ball and get involved. We need more confident players in this team.

It's not easy to make your debut at a young age like that.

He may not have been remarkable but if you didn't know his age and it was his first hd me you'd never have guessed. He looked comfortable and when you compare to someone like Smith earlier in the year shows he made more if an impact.

  18. It wasa ten minute debut, he was never going to turn in a Messi-esque performance was he?

The lad did well. He kept the ball, wasn't afraid to try something and passed to Studge for the penalty.

Didn't really mean to sound so critical. He was ok, just very Joe Allen.
