Birds do judge a bloke on his shoes. Mr Shoe lists some highly impressive shoe makers, pick any of his choices and you'll be quids in. Turn up in a pair of Lonsdale slip ons in white and you may as well belch in her face and ask her for a rim job as an opening gambit. Socially they are on the same level. Adidas classic trainers have their place but just remember first impressions.

Check out Shoe Healer in Donny if you want some nice leather. The store does lot of custom orders from the big Northampton names and is great for advice. They just put new dainite soles on my work shoes and a fine oak bark tanned leather on my Trickers Woodstock.
Back in the day (about 30 yrs ago) my favourite runners were a pair of Diadora Bjorn Borg Elite Gold. Nowadays I wear Dsquared. Church's shoes for formal, and Grenson " Fred's " for smart casual. I have around 25 pairs of trainers, some I have never worn.
