Have done this myself many times, always a good reaction. I'm going to give my wife a pearl necklace (if she's lucky)

Not me, its a holiday dreamt up by card companies to make more money, its also a time for florists to fleece men by tripling their prices.

How is it romantic that men are forced to do something to stop their misses having a strop? There's no thought in it, I buy chocolates or give flowers on random days and that shows you are thinking of them.

The women that try to embarrass men into buying grossly overpriced roses in pubs piss me off more though, again, zero romance in that. You don't even have to get up off your seat.

Seeing the misses in 48 hours of pain would be the best valentines a lot of blokes could hope for!

Mrs Maple needs to wait for me while I do the dutiful son thing by visiting my now 87 year old mother, born on Valetine's Day and bearing that as her middle name. And her first name really is Shirley but my family's Shirley Valentine did not care for the movie one little bit.

Alejandro Sanz new CD/DVD and a card, I am real pain to live with at times and this recharges the browny points temporarily.

...and her birthday is St Patricks Day so I'll get some green roses!
