Schumacher has been suspected to have contracted Pneumonia since last week. http://www.bild.de/sport/motorsport...entzuendung-so-gefaehrlich-34641424.bild.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pneumonia I've been told with people in coma's that it's pretty common, something like 2/3 of all people get it.
Pneumonia is a pain because it is primarily caused by lying down for long periods of time and it can be fatal. Hopefully Schumacher's case isn't bad and they can bring it under control.
New details of the plan to spice up qualifying for 2014 have emerged. Last week, it was revealed that Formula One’s major players will move to ensure the final ‘Q3’ segment is exciting under the radically different regulations. The fear is that drivers will sit out the session to preserve tires, in addition to other tactical reasons. It was reported that a likely solution would be to supply drivers with an extra set of tires for the final Q3 session. Writing in Autosprint, the Italian correspondent Roberto Chinchero said the extra set, eligible to be used in Q3 only, will be the “option” -- or fastest -- tire. According to the reported proposal, drivers will also be encouraged to push hard in Q3 by ending the rule that required cars to start the race on the last tire used in the top-10 hit out. Now, top-10 drivers will start on the tire with which they set their best Q2 time. The Q3 changes, likely to increase track activity, will extend the session from 10 to 12 minutes, giving drivers more time to fit in their additional runs. And the lengthened Q3 will reduce Q1 from 20 to 18 minutes. Meanwhile, drivers who do not make it into Q3 will be given an extra set of option tires for the race, also discouraging them from saving tires in qualifying. http://thejudge13.com/2014/02/13/daily-f1-news-and-comment-thursday-13th-feburary-2014/ More Renault trouble for Toro Rosso at Misano (GMM) It seems Renault is yet to solve all its troubles with the new turbo V6 ‘power unit’. After a disastrous Jerez test for the French engine supplier and its partners – notably world champions Red Bull – Renault appeared to have taken a step forward when it emerged the new Lotus had run almost trouble-free during its more recent track debut. But another Renault-powered car, the 2014 Toro Rosso, has been back in action even since the Lotus debut for a similar ‘filming’ day, allowed under the regulations for promotional purposes with non-competitive Pirelli tyres. However, there are reports the STR9 managed only 70 kilometres at the Misano circuit in Italy, littered with “repeated” stoppages for battery and software faults.

Simona de Silvestro is to be a test Driver for sauber this year. It wont be long till we have a woman in F1 again She is hoping to get a race in 2015!
14 days to Power Unit homologation, Renault better hope they've got things fixed otherwise they're going to have to ask for special dispensation. Wonder if Mercedes will be doing something about the apparently over the top Turbo protection?
de Silvestro is an "affiliated driver" rather than the reserve driver, which in my opinion means she was signed for PR reasons and the team have no intentions of giving her a race seat in 2015. The team already have Sirotkin and Van Der Garde as reserve drivers. Unless she has major Swiss backers, I find it hard to believe that Sauber are serious about her.
that's a thumbs down from me, she was comprehensively beaten by male drivers not considered good enough for F1, if the genders were reversed women would be up in arms about 'sexual discrimination'
Ok.. fair opinion. Lets have a mass debate on the subject of racey Females.. So do you think their are any women in the current generation that could be better than the current worst male F1 driver that would deserve. Also What do you think needs to change to get equality?
there is equality, the people who are good enough to be in F1 generally are, that they're all male is just the way it is atm, but there are more girls getting involved in racing at a lower level, you just have to wait for one who is good enough to mature. I doubt Ferrari, McLaren, Redbull or Mercedes would have a problem with a driver that has to sit down to pee if they could do the business on track, because that is what it should come down to, whether they can do the business on the track at this level. TBH I'm always a bit surprised that when women are mentioned in F1 they never talk about Desire Wilson.
Some merging needed, this topic is in several threads now lol. I agree with Miggins, every mediocre female that gets in hurts the image for the rest of them. I'm certain that a worthy female is less than a decade away, just need to be looked after early on. If this was a guy he'd be hounded as a pay driver Just compare to the recent 'worst' drivers previous results...
