18 years ago today Robert Paisley OBE died. Born Hetton le Hole. A quick look at his record for Liverpool tells it's own story, amazing. Liverpool Football League First Division (6): 1975–76, 1976–77, 1978–79, 1979–80, 1981–82, 1982–83 League Cup (3): 1980–81, 1981–82, 1982–83 FA Charity Shield (6): 1974, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1980, 1982 European Cup (3): 1976–77, 1977–78, 1980–81 UEFA Cup (1): 1975–76 UEFA Super Cup (1): 1977 ...................................................... Then you have Sir Bobby Robson, everyone loved Bobby a man of the people. Managed Ipswich, PSV, Porto, Barca, Sporting, Mags and England. Another excellent record and even won the UEFA cup with Ipswich. Brian Clough, what can you say, 2 European cup with Forest, the greatest manager Sunderland never had. Bob Stokoe, well his legend lives on in the minds of every SAFC fan. ....................................................................... The whole point of my rambling? Who in your view is the greatest manager from the North East?
I don't think that you can go past Bob Paisley for his unbelievable achievements and Brian Clough for his achievements with relatively unfashionable clubs..After then two comes Stokoe and Robson..
Clough. Titles with Derby and Forest, two European Cups and a bunch of League Cups. Put Mourinho in Derby in 1972 or Forest in 1977 and see how "special" he is
Milton Nunez may have gone on to be the greatest ever manager in the north east! If only he'd been given enough time...
Paisley was a superb manager and a cracking man by all accounts, heard a rumour many years ago he did us a big favour I'll go for Clough though..
