OT - who does Valentine's day?

So of all the people with a partner, be it married or otherwise, who on here partakes in Valentine's day and who believes it to be a load of commercial claptrap ?
Only asking as when I suggested the latter to the Wife she wasn't best impressed so thought I'd conduct a straw poll to back me up that there are like minded people out there.....?
 
Misus worked tonight and im in early in the morn.....

valentines is for teens and the deluded..!!

Try having a romatic night with 2 kids in the house...there are no sitters tonight !!

People pay $50 dollars for flowers that you get at $4 ...YOU ARE BEING MUGGED..WAKE UP

Queens, I'm feeling the kids and work thing, just the same in our house and what's the point in signing a Valentine card once your married?
The whole idea used to be that they were sent anonymously......
 
Before the present holder of the title 'Mrs Uber' ascended to this grand status she made it known that she didn't subscribe to the overly commercialised claptrap that is Valentine's Day. Quite how she distinguishes between the commercial cynicism of the 24th February and, say, Easter or Christmas I'm not too sure. But with this in mind, I proposed to her on February 13th instead, and we mark this anniversary with me reaffirming my love for her with chocolates, flowers or perfume, and she bursting into tears over her stupidity in saying yes all those years ago.

Mr IDLF proves his love every week by letting me watch 11 gorgeous men in shorts run around messing with my emotions on a minute by minute basis
 
I purchased a vase and a weird bottle from an antique store... went down well and its now sits next to George our resident medical skeleton

WE were up at four at usual to play "I'm a little milkmaid and my pails are so heavy" followed by a game of guess the fruit
 
I bought my lovely wife of 32 years some flowers ................. cauliflowers to be precise!
There's nothing quite like a good feed.
 
I find as with most things consistency is important...

Having taken the 'what a load of commercial bollocks - i demonstrate my love every day by still being here' position 20 years ago to now suddenly produce flowers etc on Valentines day would be met with a lot of suspicion as to the reason behind my sudden change in Valentines Day behavior... Mrs C would conclude i was buying the Valentines day ****e out of guilt, and assume that i was having an affair. Legal proceedings would follow and I would end up minus a house/wife/kids and dog.

So by choosing to consistently ignore Valentines day i am protecting my marriage and keeping my family intact.

I am such a caring and thoughtful husband I really don't know how i do it sometimes.

Ha ha, nice one Uber. A bit like when I introduce my wife as my 'first wife'
 
My other half loves to be romamnced and I love to romance her hence the card, flowers, chocies and a special home made dinner by me with loads of her favourite goodies, and I must admit I get a buzz out of it and great sex for the next few months ;)
 
Mrs Badger says she isn't that bothered...but if I completely failed to mark the occasion I think I'd be getting some trouble...so in the interest of peace and harmony I got some flowers and a card - doesn't hurt does it?? I also got her a packet of McCoys...wasn't much of a range of gifts in the coop this morning!
 
My top tip is send flowers a week later. It's half the price and just include a message saying flowers can be sent anytime not on a day when everyone does! Better still if it's sent to a workplace all the other women will big up what an amazing bloke she has!
