Cost 425 ,000 £ from Real Betis. 2013 - 2014 season . Premier league - 7 starts , 15 subs . Europa - 8 starts , 2 subs . Started the league cup game and both FA Cup games . His best results came clearly in Europa with a couple of goals and 3 assists. Pretty handy guy when the "Injury Bug " was running rampant . I really think there is more potential than problems with this 22 year old . If I'm not mistaken he , quietly , played a part of 35 ot of a possible 39 games so far this season . When the smoke clears in the summer I hope he's still around , if he wants to be. Very good value for a very tricky player , two thumbs up from me.
I rate Pozuelo higher than I rate Emnes. Heck, I even rate him higher than De Guzman, Pablo and Shelvey for playing the ACM (attacking central midfield) role. However, rating someone compared to their effectiveness on the pitch are different matters. On his day, he can take teams apart by himself (e.g. Manchester United - FA Cup). However, these have been few and far between this season unfortunately. More so than Shelvey, he needs to learn when to give it simple and when to take on players. Too often he loses possession in an attempt to dribble between 2/3 players in close proximity, when all that's required is just to roll it back to Leon and he'll spread the play into space! However, he has the best close ball control of anyone at our club, easily. He's young. He's definitely someone to keep and maybe next season will be his breakthrough year.
I wasn't convinced by the Emnes signing... but after watching him since he got back, his close ball control has really impressed me... Always rated Pozuelo, and said ' definately one to watch' after seeing him for the first time (seems a long time ago now though!). Hasn't quite got it right, but the potential for both emnes AND Pozuelo is definately there in my humble opinion.. it's up to them now..
Im not too worried about Pozuelo, Pablo was the same last season, but it was clear to some that he had the ability to be a match winner for us, you only have to look at the last 2 games to see Pablo is a huge part of our team now, even if he still hasn't quite got his passing boots on at times. And I feel the same for Pozuelo, he will come good as he settles down more.
Poz has a hell of a lot of raw potential. I thought he was head and shoulders above everyone at Old Trafford in the FA Cup. He will be a top top player if we can develop the huge potential in him.
We have shifted to wide or wider wingers with Monk. This will open up more space for Poz and other AM's behind Bony. It will be interesting to see what he can do in this setup and how Monk decides to use him. Definitely a ton of up-side and well worth persevering with.
Completely agree mate. There's no denying some of his performances haven't been top draw but there's certainly a tidy player in there somewhere as he's shown in glimpses. His vision is top notch but his execution isn't always there, IMO he's guilty of trying too hard at times he came on the pitch at West Ham like a madman. I'm still a fan of his though and I believe he will come good.
