Bar The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys and Noel Gallagher's solo stuff, I mostly agree.

Most music has always been ****e. You just have to look for decent stuff. All the music I've been listening to this millenium has been ****ing great.

Agree about The Libertines. Interpol and Arcade Fire would stand up against anything from any era.

Bar the Arctic Monkeys I'd agree. Not a lot.

The band from this millennium that I listen to the most are Ballboy. Write some great stuff IMO

I doubt the 90's will ever be beaten. What with the emergence of trance, drum & bass, top bands such as oasis, spice girls, take that...

The only better decade could be the 70's for rockers.

    This millennium has no chance.

    Arctic Monkeys
    Libertines
    Kasabian
    The Strokes
    Jake Bugg
    The Cribs
    Arcade Fire
    Interpol

Older bands like Stereophonics & White Stripes got better & produced some decent stuff.

Some decent dance & electro stuff.

The explosion of minimal techno revolutionised the dance music world and it's positive effects are still being felt now. There is so much more to come from underground dance music for the next couple of decades.

Sadly there is also so much more to come from manufactured autotune pricks.

    And Chris Martin.

There's many excellent new bands around. As has been said previously the art is finding them.

    The Strypes
    The Sherlocks
    The Neutronics
    The Mutineers
    The Friday Night Lights (TFNL)
    The Cornerstones
    Puppet Rebellion
    Calling All Astronauts (CAA)
    Turrentine Jones
    The Electric Stars

From Beverley (I think) - The Supersonic Jets

    Victorian Trout Conspiracy
    The Holy Ghosts
    The North
    The Hardy Souls

The Sherlocks played a free gig at Linnet (I think) a few weeks back

Some of you lot need to start listening around a bit more. As long as you keep away from the charts and all that hip-hop, RnB, rap, "Urban" ****e, there's loads of great stuff around.

I saw Dave Clarke a couple of times.

Wasn't as minimal as you'd think.

Westbam was a different beast and Christian Vogel took minimal to another level the time I saw him.

Not really my bag though, I preferred low end squelch theory.

Oh and Artic Monkeys are w**k.

the fact that Dappy has had some form of musical career in recent years should be enough to guarantee the topic statement is true.
