And this is another reason our A&E departments are at breaking point. People can't get in to see a GP, so A&E pick up the pieces. And they can't just fob you off. I'd ask for a copy of their complaints procedure and see what reaction that gets. I would imagine the number of people who really need to go to the A & E dept are quite small in comparison to those who actually attend. Trouble is people use it as a drop in centre instead of thinking about it and using a) a common sense approach to the problem b) other alternatives such as GP/drop in centre/pharmacist/self medicate People have got used to the A & E being for everything and not what is was designed for. Clue is in the name, A & E.
I've always thought A&E and odd term. Emergency I can handle, but I doubt that many people deliberately get ill.
I agree. I think they are keen to go over to the Emergency dept route rather than A&E but its so entrenched in our psyche that doubt it will ever change.
I've used it, it's good, but not an appointment system. I waited three hours. If you get there at 8am (when they open) you should get in pretty quick though.
Storey Street do not do sick notes by the way, if that's your issue. It's writ large on a sign at reception.
I don't think I've had a sick note in years, I'm after a simple form signing to prove that. I can't believe the farting about from them.
