Agreed ... I was a young man at the time and will freely admit that my reaction was the same as many - how dare the 'Argies' invade one of OUR islands etc ... ... it's only after it was all over that I started to feel a little gubbed ... we had professional soldiers and elite units (SAS SBS Catering Corp) with the latest hi-tech weaponry ... the 'foreign invader' was actually not much more than a load of pimply teenage conscipts armed with inferior weapons and shoved on te ferry from Buenos Aires ... and here was the killer ...geographically the 'Little Britain' that had been invaded was actually a rock containing a few sheep off their bloody coast .... still they asked for it!!! ... what it really came down to was the political ambitions of two leaders, Galtieri and Thatcher, that didn't really care about collateral damage (i.e lives lost - fortunes spent) as long as they continued in power ... ... and, in a nutshell, that's why it all leaves a rather nasty taste in my mouth ...
Well I know how they behaved in the 20th century when they turned up in the Falklands. They didn't burn the place to the ground, very few invading armies do, as that would defeat the purpose of the invasion, but they did commit atrocities.
I wouldn't waste your time on the pimply faced skinny junior IT assistant geek Dev. Hasn't a ****in clue what he's talking about.
Not for one minute underestimating what our troops went through etc and you can lose your life to a single bullet no matter how skilled the opponent with a gun etc ... but I did take an avid interest in thosee events and have based my comments on the tv footage seen both at the time and since ... the Argentinian POWs appeared very young to me and the news commentary conceded that the majority were conscripts ... if that is wrong fair enough ... but I also recall those graphics on the news that would show the 'differences' in the armies re planes ships etc etc and we seemed to have considerably more of everything ..
To put it in simple terms, to take a fortified position from the enemy it is recommended that you should have roughly 3 times (at least) as many combat troops as the enemy, the Argentinans had 10,000 troops on the Falklands. We had nowhere near that number.
You can keep the Falklands. Come September, yer on yer own, and without the hard-as-**** Scots, the Argies will kick your English ****s in
Says the **** who moved to warmer climes and doesn't pay tax like the rest of us here. Basically a middle east Sean Connery. You have no say so **** off.

Oh look, from Lee Rigby to Las Malvinas. This thread is a veritable Tour de Spackre. We just need Abu Hamza, Brussels, "The Defence against Metric" and then we just need a cheeky "Hitler was a socialist" for the ***** Grand Slam
