Looks like we are stuck with that horrible red font for the next 5 years. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/new...m-hotspurand39s-new-principal-partner-130214/ Tottenham Hotspur today (February 13, 2014) announced that AIA Group Limited (AIA), one of the world's leading providers of insurance services, will become the Clubâs new principal global partner from season 2014/2015. Following on from the success of our existing Cup Shirt Partnership agreed at the start of this season, the AIA brand will now appear on the front of the Clubâs shirts in all competitions for the next five seasons until 2019. This long-term partnership will provide a platform for both organisations to work together to grow brand awareness in key markets across the Asia-Pacific region. AIA's brand on the Club's shirt will be seen around the world through the Premier League's 212 broadcast territories, in addition to the thousands of other media platforms that cover Tottenham Hotspur fixtures. To support the growth of AIA's own base of customers across Asia, the Club will also become a key component of AIA's future marketing and customer engagement strategies. Club ambassadors such as Ledley King and Ossie Ardiles will regularly make visits to AIA's markets, using their unique appeal as legendary Spurs players to support a host of co-branded initiatives including events and appearances for company staff, agents, customers and charitable partners. Importantly, Tottenham Hotspur's Global Coaching team will deliver elite coaching programs and associated activities to support AIA's key objectives of promoting health and well-being and increased participation in sport in the Asia-Pacific region. Tottenham Hotspurâs award-winning charitable Foundation, a leader in its field of creating life-changing opportunities for some of societyâs most vulnerable groups, will also share ideas and philosophies with AIA to help improve the lives of underprivileged young people across the Far East region. Commenting on the partnership, Tottenham Hotspur Chairman Daniel Levy said: âWe have enjoyed an excellent relationship with AIA since they became our Cup Shirt Partners at the beginning of this season. Together we share long-term ambitions across Asia, a region where the Club has seen significant growth in recent years, and this extended partnership with AIA, one of the leading companies in the Asia-Pacific region and a clear market leader in their industry, will further help to support our objectives and engage with our supporters across the region. We are delighted that AIA has committed to the Club for a further five years and look forward to developing our partnership further.â Mark Tucker, AIA Group Chief Executive and President, said: âEnglish Premier League football has tremendous appeal in Asia and following the success of our Cup Shirt sponsorship of Spurs this season, we are now delighted to be entering this new partnership with the Club. They have a massive fan base in Asia and we look forward to helping them further expand their presence here, as we continue to grow our franchise and communicate the strength, breadth and depth of the AIA brand to consumers in our 17 markets around the Asia-Pacific region.â
So,the question I ask what has happened to the HP sponsorship? Otherwise its seems sound business and opens up more of Asia to the Spurs brand.
Wasn't AIA the name of the monkey in Super Monkey Ball? To me, that makes this cool, despite the red. We're sponsored by a monkey!
More like can't afford to, lol. There's a big legal row going on regarding HP's purchase of Autonomy and subsequent £5.5bn (yes, billion!) write-off due to alleged accounting irregularities at Autonomy.
Whenever I hear of a new sponsor, I keep thinking of this...
There's loads of pictures of levy and the AIA board celebrating, if u look on twitter. (I'd post them, but it's a nightmare from an iPhone.) the pictures have red branding everywhere, just like the video. The sponsor is no doubt going to be red! Thanks Daniel! I'm guessing we won't have a light blue kit next season? It looks absolutely horrendous on this seasons away strip. Who's going to buy that??!! 3 letters in a massive font on the front of a football shirt, is pretty eye catching. There's no need for it to be red. - certainly not on our home kit. Both levy and the sponsor should have worked something out, and actually had some respect for our history and tradition. I wouldn't mind red on an away kit too much, as it'd give us variety. But not on the home shirt. It's a shame really, because if the sponsor was navy blue, it'd look very smart. (If we take our current shirt as an example). Looking at that video, I'd be tempted to suggest that there's going to be tonnes of red branding around WHL next season too. - wonderful!
Sorry guys I don't get the vitriol toward a sponsors chosen brand colour. The kit isn't red, its not a red stripe on a sock or collar trim, plus there's red lions in the crest which has been with us through history??? I've seen this before with the Mansion logo, I think this creates a "where do you draw the line at the hate of 'red'", can't completely hate it, the George Cross is red.
Shirt logo is one thing, but WHL will be doused with red advertising boards, purely out of interest, does that fill some of you with horror?
I don't like logo's anyway but the AIA one has no style at all. Makes our shirts look like we have had the tea lady iron on some letters.
I'm hoping that this had something to do with the rather last minute nature of the deal and that they'll sort it out for next season. Sponsors and kit makers rarely seem to involve each other in decisions about how logos will fit the style of the design, which just makes them both look stupid and, by extension, the clubs. How hard could it be to make three letters look better than it currently does on our shirts? Someone could almost certainly knock up a better one on photoshop in about five minutes.
The sponsor is a fairly prominent part of the shirt though, Notso. For me, that's no different to it being a red stripe on the collar, shorts or socks. The sponsor is one of the main focal points of the shirt and can easily improve or ruin it.
Did any of you know that Arsenal always have a bit of blue on the badge as a tribute to Spurs for letting them share the stadium during the war? Its still there today.
Don't mention that Spurm. We're always giving Arsenal charity. I wonder who did the shoveling after Arsenal messed on our pitch on a regular occasion? (Don't like 'em,do I?)
please log in to view this image .. I see red In our old logo. Plus Harry REDknapp is our best premier league manage.
