mmmm this might have held some water but ........ Before the game , certain posters were banging on about how the City thrashing gave us a kick up the backside we needed .. Now its , " well of course we cant come back after such a thrashing last week .. " cant have it both ways .
And once again Wenger with his famous excuse of: we played with the handbreaks. LOL if I had a penny for everytime Wenger said that after a big game. Anyways, the crowd reaction at the end said it all, the majority of fans didn't consider today's result a good one like Wenger and these players. The way the club are trying to spin this result into a good result is such a ****ing joke, but can't expect more from a club with a small mentality.
great mental strength to draw NIL- NIL at home against a mid table team .? to be fair , when you have been around such bullsh!t for so long , some of it has got to rub off. Arteta too ? He showed his mental strength early on in that game , hypocrite...yeah Mikel , one of them positives was that you didnt put us a goal down with your stupidity , 5 minutes in.
Well when you have small club mentality, drawing against a mid-table United side, is showing mental strength. I don't think ever, back in 2004, that a draw against a 7th place team, after getting thrashed 5-1 (which would never happen anyway back then), with a chance to go top would be seen as a 'positive', I don't think ANY top elite team would look at it as a positive, but this is Arsenal, where standards of elite are quite different, heck, we invented our own trophy, getting 4th place!
I never saw any positives in the games against Citeh and Liverpool, because there was none. Re-call how last season we went to Munich and beat them, the confidence that gave us for the rest of the season. Did you really expect a champagne performance today, after Saturday? Football is a very funny old game, confidence is very important, we could NOT have become ****e overnight, we do have a blip at this point (don't get me wrong, I am not expecting miracles and us to win the Premier League, but hoped we would challenge) and we need to come out of it pretty quick.
Lol, on this board you have some of the most amusing posters who change their tone so quick, as you said. Before the game it was WE MUST WIN, TIME TO STEP UP, ONLY 3 POINTS. Now that we FAILED AGAIN, and once again their fantasies come to nothing, it's back to spin job damage control, it's now well forget about this, let's just beat the **** teams, and then when we enter our next round of big league games, they will be back to major cheerleading saying NOW THIS IS THE TIME, WE MUST WIN, then we will f**k up in all big games, and they'll be like, ohhhhhh well.
We've failed to beat United now in 6 games, including 2 this season, against what is arguably the worst United team in over 2 decades, but heyyyyyyyyyyyyy positives all ****ing round everybody! Yes, we are soooooooooooooooooooooooo foooooking elite aren't we at Arsenal? lol.
Interested to know how you guys would have felt if we had played like United in that game. If we had been outshot 17-6, out-possessed, got 9 men behind the ball and Giroud had played like RVP. Just wondering if things would have been worse.
That was one of the worst and most uninspiring United teams I've watched in a long long time, makes it all the more pitiful that we couldn't beat them, and that they still had the best 2 chances of the game. At the end of the day, stats mean nothing if you don't get 3 points, as Chelsea-West Ham have shown. The only stat that matters is the W. 2 games now, and 5 points dropped, , those are the only stats that matter. We've bottled it.
In uniteds position , mid table and coming off some shocking performances and going away to the team that has been sitting at the top of the league for most weeks ...i would have taken a point any day . But we are NOT in their position and should NOT be happy with a point. I can understand the optimism of some on here . Optimism is great . But when reality ****s on it and stamps all over it .........you have to stop and realise thats all it is . Optimism . There is NO , mental strength in this team . We are no further developed than we were before. The big " must win " games come and go and guess what . ..we dont win them . It dont take a genius to see that its not gonna happen .... IF he had just got a goalscorer in the window i would have been as optimistic as the next man . But he tries to blag it again ...to make do and hope for the best . And we will see the same result again . Falling at the last hurdle.
what are the positives that Arteta is talking about . Because i cant see a single one . If we had played well and not managed to score that would have been something. But we created ZILCH . Sure we can get points off the small teams but so will City and Chelsea , we needed to create some momentum tonight . Instead we have lost even the momentum we had before the Pool game.
Yeah there's some truth in that. Without Walcott our whole attack is somewhat one dimensional. Ozil needs to be shooting more but Girouds role in the team is the one that's causing us the most problems. On one hand his hold up play is fantastic but his unwillingness to shoot and inability to create is starting to cost us. What's more his record against the top teams is nothing short of pathetic. I was really hoping Giroud would push on this season but his finishing is still pretty damn terrible if you compare him to the best strikers around. (His conversion rate is 0.15 this Season - about one goal in every 7 shots on target. For comparison Martinez 0.33, Higuaine 0.31, Aguero 0.30, Negredo 0.29 , Suarez 0.30 etc..) Now we need goals from the whole team and Girouds job isn't just to score goals but we play a system with just the one centre forward. If he cant score goals he's not good enough to take the team forward.
When we just decided to give up and play for a draw in stoppage time, that without a doubt, is one of the most disgusting things I've seen from Arsenal, and we're expected to win the title?
And it was a sub that nobody understood, Rosicky actually looked good, if anyone should've gone off, it should've been Wilshere. That was Wenger's great 'response', play it safe and cagey to get a draw, lol, pathetic, instead of fighting to go back on top of the league. Even the most optimist fans deep down inside know that what's happened recently doesn't bode well.
Wenger is just a coward. The guy lost his winning mentality a long time ago. He is content to just bottle it in the big games and hopefully win the title by just beating the relegation fodder and hoping City/Chavski drop points. Wenger just doesn't have that "let's ****ing go for broke" mentality.
Coward is a good word, I was screaming that at the players in stoppage time, one of the most disgusting things I've seen from Arsenal, in fact that's why most fans booed, because of that pitiful disgusting retreat in stoppage time And on top of all that we have someone like Podolski just warming up for 30 minutes and not being used, heck even bring on Lord Bendtner in place of Giroud who was obviously f**king useless.
I mean I can understand that perhaps Fergie had a psychological hold over Wenger, but now he can't even manufacture a win against a mediocre Utd team, heading for the mediocre isles, captained by mediocrity Moyes himself? Come on...
Really coward? United parked the bus and we didn't have the penetration to break through but through some asinine logic that makes Wenger a coward?
Yup, and the players too for deciding to quit and just go for the draw in stopage time. Podolski is just waiting there, why not bring him on? Wenger was satisfied to get the point at the end, didn't go all out for the win.
