Liverpool should be beating the bottom of the colleague side... And they did.
Forget the fact they are 3 points ahead of us, we're 7 points behind the leaders! The race for 4th is wide open!

Not sure what to make of it really. It felt like another game where we were rolling the dice, we attack/you attack and hoping our quality comes out on top(and it did). Still, I think we'll have to be more astute than that against the top sides and I'd like us to have a bit more shape as it's all a bit slapdash at the moment.

4-0 and our biggest win of the season though, well done Sherwood and co <ok>

You aim for 4th spot while LFC aims for the Championship :1980_boogie_down:

And that's why we all laugh at you. You haven't got a chance of winning the league.. or were you talking about getting relegated? :undecided:

What he said. I thought the lineup was crazy, and the return to high pressing like a bad dream returning. But this was an audacious strategy, it worked, and it solved the problem of us squeaking through what games we do win. So, credit to Sherwood, but I don't think I want to see this team again. The big factor was that Ade has reached the stage where the ball is falling at his feet in front of an open net.

Still, the quality of our players is impressive. Having to face four of our middle midfielders must seem pretty daunting. Bentaleb MoM for me. The way he kept control of the ball on the first goal showed me something. Ade wasn't too shabby either, taking control all over the pitch. Dembele was class, Paulinho too sloppy too often, but once again showing he can create goals with flair. Lloris was brilliant, again--may edge Bentaleb and Ade for MoM, come to think of it. God knows how few points we'd have without him. The best thing was seeing Kaboul back to the form he showed before the injury.

Just finished watching match choice. Didn't notice at the time but Paulinho's backheel for Ade's shot(which Paulinho got his goal from) was unbelievably classy. He's going to be an absolute legend at Spurs.

  13. Players are beginning to gel, and with that comes belief. This win, coupled with Chavs', and Arsenal's draws puts us back in the mix for the title. Okay, so we have only an outside chance, but who would have thought that we'd be in the mix whilst having our worst season for ages, whilst the Gunners would start to bottle in one of their best for ages!

So Chadli has now achieved as much as Timothe Atouba for Spurs. Let's see if he can go even further!

Hand on heart he always looked like he had that curler into the far post shot in him. It'd be a bit suspect to be an inverted winger and not have. Really hope he starts proving me wrong as our left side needs something right now. Naughton and Lennon on the left? Don't want to see that too often. Or ever again, really.

Amazing how there were so many positives given how many potential problems there were with that team. Think we have to acknowledge that Newcastle were poor.

Very good game for Bentaleb. He's just so composed, smart in distribution, has a good engine. I think he could grow into a very handy player. And I keep seeing glimpses of how good Paulinho is. Think he could well look like the best signing of our crazy summer of 2013 this time next year.

Lloris superb. Kaboul very encouraging. Him and Verts at the back? Yes please.

I'm definitely feeling positive after that game. Chadli can power down the left! We have our best CB pairing back! Paulinho might develop into a properly class player for us.

Oh yeah - and doesn't it help to have our best striker available for selection?

Just watched the highlights. Newcastle's defence was a joke! The only surprise is we didn't score more. Good goal by Chadli, but where was the closing down? They gave him all the time he wanted to line up the strike.

Massively important to have both Vertonghen & Kaboul back, let's hope they both stay fit now.

Phwoaaaaar, was like watching a porno last night. Is that our best performance of the season?

Have to say the starting XI somewhat surprised me a little, 4 CM's was a weird but turned out to be a fantastic choice. Paulinho probably had his best game, neat flicks, covered all areas of the pitch and grabbed a goal. Bentaleb was immense, playing in the more advanced role suits him but he got back a hell of a lot to help out too, you can see why Tim mentioned in an interview after his debut that Nabil is one of the hardest trainers. Dembele was in typical good form and Capoue done a lot of the dirty work (great seeing him given a start).

Hugo made some wonder saves, again. I do feel he's world class, I know a couple have said otherwise but I feel we have one of the top 5 keepers in the world here at the club.

Chadli bagging his first goal - and what a goal - will have done wonder for his confidence and his cameo overall was impressive.

Ade is definitely back to the Ade of 2011/12 and that's the player you'd regard as one of the best strikers in Europe.

BUT, the best news of all - YOUNES IS BACK! I've always said that alongside Sandro, Younes is my favourite Spurs player and I have mentioned that when he's back fit, I'd like him to start and that's the exact reason why. Daws is a great guy and good CB but Kaboul is on a completely different level. Our best CB in the air, strong in tackle and covers ground well due to his speed. An absolute beast of a CB and partnered with Vertonghen, it's a CB pairing from heaven.

Well done Spurs, great performance, great result. Onwards and upwards.
