So you want us to gamble our future again like in 2009? We can't just keep spending like it's going out of fashion. Clubs already spend way beyond their means, and the spending you seem to be suggesting is even beyond that.
We're already about £100m in debt, it's already way too high, spending another fortune next summer simply will not happen.
None of us know how much in debt we are OLM, it's merely conjecture, also we don't know how much we have cut from sales or what sales are in front of us. EG:How long will we hold onto Long for if he bags let's say 10 goals for the season with us, or Jelevic. How much is a productive Premier League striker worth now days. 20mill? 30 mill? I don't know I'm just asking a question÷
Long is going to need to bang in close to 10 otherwise we are going down. He has got 2 now so lets hope he makes the other 8. All this talk about summer signings should wait until we are safe which could be down the road a while at this pace. Lots of euphoria after Sat down to earth with a bump.
We do know much debt we are in, it was £72m before we signed Huddlestone, Long and Jelavic, so it's now somewhere around £90m and according to AA, we're still trading at a loss, so it's still increasing. If we cash in on anyone, then obviously it would free up cash to spend, but it's likely that we'll stick with what we've got and just get Livermore on a permanent and get in a couple of loans.
What we need is someone in midfield who offers a long range goal threat. We haven't scored many from outside the box this season. A 28 year old Geovanni would have been a god send last night.
In spite of the signings I suspect unless we do spend a further small fortune come the Summer that with a full years Premier League income we won't be trading at a loss for 2013/14. With £90m+ from TV, plus match income etc this more than covers a wage bill some suggest is now around £38m PA..........unless AA is using Wonga's rates on his loan/s to the club
You don't get £90m+ from the TV rights, you get roughly £60m +1m for each place you finish up the league. Roughly 70% of the TV income will cover our wage bill.
Happy to be corrected but I think that refers to the old deal not the new Sky/BT £3bn deal effective from 2013/14.
Pretty sure OLM is right as that is the amount they have been saying. I think you are adding some parachute payments into the total as it is something like 120 million for going up including all the parachutes if you are relegated the first year.
That still leaves us without any CBs apart from Davies and Chester that are comfortable on the ball, something we saw was needed last night
if we acquired 2 quick, positive, forward thinking FB's then we just need bodies on the line at CB. I'd be happy with just Bruce and Macca as cover for Davies and Chester. Figgy can and has played left side of CB too.
Coming from the king of talking rubbish on this forum, that is hilarious! ...even your attempted dig at me was just repeating what I had said to you!
Disagree on that, at this level I think that the whole team need to be capable footballers. McShane isn't too bad but Bruce is awful at it and Figueroa has looked terrible in all aspects of defence far too often this season. Given that we would still have Chezzy and Macca it doesn't necessarily need to be a big signing, but someone similar to Davies - tall, mobile, and good with the ball at feet - would greatly improve us and allow us to play decent football instead of resorting to the Pulisball of last night.
