trouble is rbf the manager is paid well and by defualt he gets the blame, not the players. it's the way it works. the premier league is ruthless. most other managers with his record would have been sacked by now.
He had a good game, but not all the saves he made were outstanding(a lot of poor finishing from us), top sides like Fulham, Cardiff, Sunderland, West Ham? CH is the manager and the buck stops there, the players are top notch, the manager is not.
No - any amount of tactics and preparation will not guarantee a striker scoring when clean through one on one with the keeper, or when he has a free header 6 yards out, or etc, etc, etc. Individual coolness, calmness, skill, decision-making, and a bit of luck at the vital moment, will more often than not determine whether there´s a goal or not, not to mention what the opposing keeper may decide to get up to. Oh my, if only it was as straightforward as tactics and preparation to get a result, then we could all be manager. Oh, and pardon me, if as you say, our players are top notch, why didn´t we score at least 4 goals last night?
Sorry but I disagree, our finishing on various occasions wasn't good enough, hence making it easy for the goal keeper, why do people keep saying he had such an outstanding night?, and tactics? the subs were awful, then bringing on RVW for the last 5 mins?
But I repeat -I thought you said our players are top notch, and yet our finishing according to you, wasn´t good enough, which is down to Hughton apparently.
Those four clubs would all win the SPL and very probably the Championship and be right up near the top of the Portuguese league so I'm not really sure what you are saying? Absolute rubbish and just proves that perhaps both of my suggestions for this mindset that you entertain may actually both be true
It's not this last game that has just been the problem RBF. It has been a problem ALL season, look at our goals per game ratio. I partly agree with what you are saying but CH brought the players to the club and he and his staff coach them. There is obviously a problem somewhere. The substitutions were frankly bizzare last night, the only one that made sense was RVW coming on and that was only made because we were chasing the game by then.
They are top notch, I repeat my earlier statement it's down to the manager to get the best out of the players, for some reason our players aren't making the right decisions when it comes to finishing, Snodgrass had a chance in the 1st half, should have took a touch but didn't, in the 2nd half Hooper went right but should have gone wide. Now that's either down to: A) Our players are crap(their proven track record shows they aren't) B) Training C) No confidence Just my humble opinion, I'm no expert and do not claim to be such, this is an open forum for all to express their views after all. Not sure why there are still fans out there defending CH tbh, laughable really.
Becchio had a assist in Howson's screamer at home to the Baggies last season so there is at least one !!
It´s quite frankly just as laughable to say our players are top notch, and the reason they can´t score is because Hughton is crap. Top notch players when they have a split second to make a crucial decision, will make the right one, and not because the manager told them what to do, but because they instinctively knew themselves, that ability cannot be taught.
Just because someone is good at something it doesn't mean they are going to perform that task at the same high standard all the time, you do know that don't you? These people aren't robots, you know that as well yeah? So if Ronaldo puts a shot over the bar or takes a touch when he shouldn't have and fluffs a chance - does that mean he's either crap, has been trained badly or has no confidence? And is it then the manager's fault as well? Your clearly biased and overly simplistic view on things is the laughable thing around here I'm afraid
There's your answer. And like it or not, there's not a lot that the players or the manager can do about it. They can talk the talk but no sports psychologists in the world will instil confidence in the way that a couple of scuffed goals will.
I am very biased yes, I want CH out in the summer, I see your point of view but we will never agree as your CH inner , same goes for rbf
K E M P - No-one can dispute that Hughton brought at least some of the players to the club, and that he and his staff coach them, but if money was no object and these were all world class players then we could be justified in expecting them to score whenever the chance arose, and be bloody annoyed if they didn´t. But that is patently not the case, and they´re no more than just average-good Premier League players, who hopefully over the years will become good-great Premier League players. And if, as you say, there is a problem somewhere, then I would suggest that it might be in the minds of some supporters who are still expecting to see glimpses of Ronaldo and Messi each week, when they see Snodgrass and Fer. Sorry, but with the best will in the world, it won´t happen.
all the teams that have changed their manager during this season are in the bottom 6, you are the only ones who havn't, change in manager doesn't mean salvation.
Whilst a Hughton outer, I think a better description of our players would be top quality available to us at the moment. We can keep incrementally improving the squad quality by new additions or training with the lot we have. I just can't see how any of the firat teamers have really improved lately? I do agree that Hughton is decidedly not top notch, like the players though, will we be able to get top notch? Not likely! Developing and with potentially, yes. On face value I thought that was what we were getting with Hughton, He is falling short of my expectations and a number of others but that doesn't change the fact that like our strikers there was form to suggest we may have had better returns. And lastly, he will correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Munky had at least reached the fence, if not reluctantly hopped on to the outers side recently. I just don't think he likes the really stupid and unfounded stuff anti-Hughton. Bah!
