Did the game look different on the TV tonight than live down the CCS?

To be honest with you John I wish I had stayed at home. Thoroughly depressing if truth be told. I cannot see where the next goal is coming from. Wasn't there supposed to be a RevOLEution under the new manager? Stand out performances from Marshy and Turner throughout and Noone first half. We really need to work on those through balls up front.

A comprehensive appraisal of the game there Bluey and also other aspects raised. Given the tone of the OP, it's probably undeserved and falls on stoney ground as the intent seems more to wind up fellow Cardiff posters than to dicuss football.

I don't quite know what you're trying to achieve with this baiting of other forum members John, but it's becoming a pain to read all the time. Can I ask you to let it go?

Being able to attend games as I am at the CCS does not make me any better a supporter than those who for geographical reasons, health issues, work comittments, or even financial inability cannot do so.

I think it's well past time to put this little obsession of yours on the back burner. You'd do well to remember that "being there" like you and I is a privilige that many others are denied for a number of reasons - it certainly doesn't make us superior supporters.

I dont understand the points being made by you John, invalid I think to be honest..

I have a season ticket and couldnt make the game due to being trapped in an office until 8:30pm..

I was watching on stream however and will be there at the next game and next game..

    Pointless thread!

If I may , you were the better side in the first half and Campbell made their defence work hard and a few times knocked them out of their comfort zone, but again it would appear either the stamina levels aren't what they should be or the opposition just raises their game but you were hanging on at the end , an interesting point about Marshall has anyone noted during what period of the game does he make the most spectacular saves and why he has to make them ? ,is it due to the defence overall not up to scratch or switching off .

We have a defence who are lacking in confidence and always seem to start games off in top form then slump in the 2nd half (as you well know from last Saturday :()

I think our level matches/is set by Medel.

As his energy level drops we start to drop off and the spaces start appearing. I love seeing him charge around for 60 minutes but I think he needs to be a little more selective to try to influence the game for 80 minutes plus.

Can anyone on here remember a great last 15 minutes from Gary?

I wouldn't even put him or Noone on the bench on Saturday, they need total rest.

That's a decent point about the timing of Marshies' fantastic saves there lurker. He appears to have earned us an awful lot of our points with his efforts toward the end of games. Maybe it seems more obvious when the clock is running down, but nevertheless, you could be right.

We sometimes tend to overlook the great stuff he does during earlier phases of the game just to keep us in the hunt. To my mind, the only goal I can really fault him for was Hazard's last goal at Chelsea when he should have got down to that near post strike. Other than that, he's been brilliant throughout games, but more obviously towards the end of them when spectacular saves are more noticeable.

Another aspect of his game is his vastly improved distribution this season instead of lumping it all the time. If he had a better ball playing LCB to throw to, I'd be more confident again, but for all his defensive quality, when Turner gets the ball from him, I'm waiting for a disaster.

John why is it that you need to be there to understand what's happening on the pitch? If anything you get a better understanding watching on TV because you have the benefit of replays and different angles, as well as stats and analysis.

I used to like your posts but lately you're acting like an immature tool.

Regarding the match, it was definitely a game of two halves. I don't know how we didn't score and it was one of those penalty decisions where you've seen them given. Noone played well and tried hard but his shooting was a bit off, with one going closer to the corner flag than the goal. KWJ also ballooned a couple. Zaha was frustrating and couldn't seem to pass 5 yards whenever he beat his man (which he did a couple of times in fairness).

In the end a point was fair enough for both teams I reckon.

    EDIT: Re: Marshall

Vorm did it in Swansea's first season up in the PL if I recall. Kept making world-class stops and keeping the Swans either in the lead or hanging on for a draw against better teams. Marshall's more important to us at the moment than our strikers and he's probably earned more points than them too.

    Good points Steve.

Also agree on the Saturday rest. Time for Cowie and Gunnar to show they can still do it versus a Championship side (no disrespect to Wigan, just a statement of fact).

Zaha and Daehli to get more game time to get them to match fitness.

    Who else should we rest/play?

Cala must get a game, Fabio to have another chance. KWJ and Campbell to get more game time together or give the other Norwegian lad his first start?

Give Marshie a break and Lewis a rare chance?

Caulker or Turner out for Cala? Pity Hudson's not fit otherwise he would play with Cala.

Can't think of many other variations - Kimbo in somewhere maybe.

However, a bit of a cup run could do us some good and help confidence. We certainly don't want to lose to Wigan. I hope Maynard is not available due to the loan deal. He scored twice last night and their third was a rebound from his shot.

Individual incidents (pens/offsides) are much better assessed on TV, however player performance relates so much to positioning and the work they do off the ball watching the game live is always better to make a judgement IMO.

    Interesting team selection indeed.

City have a good chance of reaching last 8 and that will inspire confidence. Wigan are going to be tough nut to crack but won't have their new goal threat!

I'd set up tight at the back ie no Fabio, and 5 in midfield with Campbell up top.

He'll probably put Noone on the bench. And not play Medel.

    I'd go
    Marshall
    KTC, Caulker, Turner, McNaughton
    Zaha, Cowie, Ekreim, Gunnarrson, Eikrem
    Campbell.

I'd play Berget instead of Campbell, Daehli instead of the other Ekirem (I think that's what Nin meant <laugh>).

Fabio right mid instead of Zaha. I'd give Cala a game and haven't we got baby Ben back? There's no way I'd play Marshall, give him a rest too.

With Cowie and Gunnar I think you could let Witts play in front of them off the striker. With Fabio, Gunnar, Cowie and Daehli in midfield he'd have others to do all his running.

    Lewis
    Kev Calla Baby Ben John
    Fabio Gunnar Cowie Daehli
    Witts
    Berget

I don't care if we lose on Saturday but that side should be able to give Wigan a game anyway. If Berget can't play right up top then '2 goals last night' Maynard should not have been loaned out. I'd have liked to see him given a chance to play off KWJ, we've probably loaned out the most natural finisher in our squad.

I know Aber but timing differences meant I'd never make it, dam this big world. My aim is to see as much as I can before I leave this mortal coil, life is too short for petty differences and football is petty in the grand scheme.

Whoa Taff, got to take issue with that last statement. I prefer the Bill Shankly view.

But what the hell you're clearly having a great time and seeing some wonderful sights. Pity you can't do a slide show for us on here. Lol!!!

BfB, I know, how dare I belittle footy, I almost forgot myself in all the emotion. I had to stay up until after midnight to see the derby game and got back to my fart sack at around 05:30 hours after fighting through the protests in central Bangkok and getting propositioned by hot tottie and ladyboy alike. Suffice it to say Percy Peckerhead and I were too drained by the derby performance to raise a smile never mind a hard on. So I eventually fell into a fitfull night of Swansea nightmares that were only relieved by a massage at the local parlour the following day. Now I am travelling around looking at history past and living history and it's good.
As for the photos, I will try and post some but even Facebook fails here!
