http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/feb/11/tim-sherwood-tottenham-job-louis-van-gaal I've said before that I suspect that even a 4th place finish might not be good enough for Sherwood, based on Levy's past form. It seems that he agrees.

Sherwood being replaced by a more experienced manager at a top club such as Spurs ought to be no bad reflection on him. He's been given a chance to show that he's not a complete nightmare, and to be fair to him, he has done an okay job so far. I have no doubts that he'll get a job in the Conference or League One, which is where he ought to be plying his trade (assuming that he no longer wants to work as an assistant). But anyone with even a basic grasp of the game can see that he's out of his depth in this job. If he was at Fulham or Cardiff, you'd have to say that relegation would be assured, but because he has a fantastic squad of players at Spurs, he's been able to ride his luck. He isn't the manager to take us forward. Perhaps, in the future, when he's proven himself and learned a lot more about managing clubs, he might return for a longer stint. So, I don't see it as being sacked, when he's replaced in the Summer, I see it as being "let go with bridges intact."
You don't let up do you HIAG? It's like he's done something to personally offend you... was it the rumour about the Arsenal tattoo? In 13 games time (or less) I may well be giving him just as much stick, but for now he still has the benefit of the doubt from me.
It's nothing personal, I promise! But that's my point, SOB. Regardless of how we finish, and regardless of how, in the final analysis, Sherwoodie is deemed to have performed, I simply cannot see Levy taking the risk on keeping him. Sherwood, himself, appears to have accepted that he's little more than a caretaker manager, perhaps one (in his own mind, at least) with half a chance of impressing enough to be permitted to stay on a while longer, but ultimately I doubt that he truly believes he's going to be seen as a long term solution. So, it's not that I have a downer on him, even though it might seem that way, it's simply that I feel I'm being realistic about what his future will be at this club.
It does just a little some times I actually completely agree with you regarding his future at this club, given the choice I can't see Levy preferring him over Van Gaal no matter where we finish.
If van Gaal wants the job then the job is his really. I think Sherwood's done a very good job so far, sure he's made a few questionable decisions but so do most managers but the fact is, van Gaal is a man who's done it all and when a name like him declares interest in a club like us, we'd be stupid to turn him down. Hopefully Sherwood could be persuaded to stick with us, whether as an assistant to LVG or somewhere else within the club, I wouldn't like to lose him as he has a great future in the game.
I think it would be terribly unfair to sack Tim Sherwood if he manages to get a Top Four finish and/or win the UEFA Europa League.
Also daft, if it's working why fix it. Sherwood has so far done pretty much as well as anybody could hope for at the moment. He also has far more experience of the the English game and the PL than the Dutchmen however lauded they are. We employ them and we start again on yet another transitional season. The cult of personality!
And it's Transitional Hotspur. Transitional Hotspur FC. We're by far the greatest in-churn team, the world has ever seen.
Tim was Levy's blue-eyed boy once, but has made some mistakes behind the scenes, disgruntled apparently at Baldini's arrival, and generally had this cloud around him that he wasn't 'Spurs'. Circumstance now has him in the hot-seat. Has Levy seen this as a route to get rid?
Baldini's arrival has took away a fair bit of Sherwoods old job, and he was miffed. Levy at the time was furious with the errors he made, though not sackable offences in themselves, they did harm our progress. I'm not saying its an intended scenario engineered by Levy...but its kind of fell conveniently in his lap. Baldini is now Levy's first port of call, so 'if' DL now feels TS hasn't come up to his previous expectation, he's got an easy 'get out' now. No top manager was available when we needed one, Tims a stopgap however well he does in the next months, just my opinion. Its food for deep thought Spurf, 2nd guessing Levy isn't for the faint-hearted mate!
If Van Gaal would take the job, then it would be stupid to pass up the opportunity. His reputation alone would attract more star names to the club. As for Sherwood, confidence is good - just needs to make sure that isn't being mistaken, rightly or wrongly, for blind arrogance.
Van Gaal does have a massive reputation and a big believer of "total football", impressive CV and its a shame we could never bring him in after AVB. The guy has managed the two biggest clubs in football, Barcelona and Bayern Municn and been a success, plus he has a vision to play exciting football. On paper yes we would be mad to turn down the chance to bring him in as manager as its not often a manager like that would become available. BUT and its an important but, if Sherwood does finish in the top four then it would be unfair, especially as hes brave enough to use youth players and to finish in the top four under the current circumstances would be impressive and he would deserve another year.
Even better, van Gaal's teams don't give the opponents a 25 minute head start. Well, other than the 'mare that Barca had at St James Park a few years back...
Hmmm...anyone else notice a similar parallel when AVB was dumped by Chelsea and Di Matteo took over. As likeable as he was (despite being a chav), you couldn't see him as a long term manager for Chelsea despite landing the CL, and when a bad run of form hit, he was dumped. Now Tim has followed AVB, and 'IF' he lands the Europa cup, I can't see him as Levy's vision of the future for Spurs. Best of luck to him though.
