Confirmed, at last, repeats Autospout. It appears that teams will be forced to run the Ferrari top-exit exhaust from 2012. EDIT - I suppose the question now is: if Red Bull appeal, just how desperate are they?
I read a user suggestion on another forum, that could 2011 turn into the new 2009, where button was chased down.
Possibly, but it's worth remembering that Brawn did not have the cash nor the resources to keep up with development over the season, unlike Red Bull & McLaren.
It worked for both drivers throughout but only at it's maximum 40kW capacity. They're looking at introducing a 'significant' upgrade in the next few races.
Thanks, that's what I was referring to. They achieved 100% reliability in the race but only on a 40kW system. They need to up the output.
That is the key question. Vettel said that the likes of Renault will suffer the most but the important thing is does it damage red bull to the extent that it would put McLaren and Ferrari ahead. Difficult to call, but i would like to see the title race revived and given a 2009 feel.
Oh it will be the let down of the season when red bull (vettel) takes pole in silverstone, but you know we can hope.
There's no chance that this is Red Bull's DDD. Newey increases the aerodynamic effect of every conceivable area of the car. I'd be amazed if there's one single component or system that delivers the majority of the RB7's advantage in the way the DDD gave Brawn GP a slight advantage at the beginning of 2009. It may well have a discernible effect and perhaps a greater effect on Red Bull than on their rivals but I'm sceptical of claims that it's going to turn the pattern of the season on its head.
To be honest Red Bull could still hold an advantage come Silverstone, Nurburgring and Hungary, they all got some lovely high speed corners to exploit with the aero advantage
the advantage is always that Vettel leads the grid. Should by accident/chance somebody else gets to the front then things might be different !
So we are all wondering how the ban will affect the performance of the teams. Many people are expecting Red Bull to suffer more than the likes of McLaren and Ferrari - in fact, Whitmarsh has already said that he hopes to close the gap to Red Bull by half a second. Today an interview with Marko about the ban revealed something interesting. He said: "What we hope now is that it doesn't hit us any harder than it does Renault, Mercedes and McLaren, while Ferrari is most certainly looking to gain an advantage" If McLaren expect to gain half a second on Red Bull, what will Ferrari gain? Maybe it's no coincidence that the British GP is decision day on whether Ferrari give up on the 2011 car.
I think if anyone is within 3 tenths of Red Bull in Silverstone, then the title race is still on. If not then its going to be hard. The teams without the Blown Diffuser will catch up massively.
