How much of it did they pay anyway I wonder. Suspect it was all done on the never never as they don't seem to have paid for anything else
Luke Murphy was the subject of at least 3 clubs offering to buy him the lad will be OK he just needs time I could understand it if we had bought Fellini for instance now that would be a waste of 26m
I haven't a problem with the hope he might be a star player next year, I just felt IF that is how BmD saw it then it was a mistake as the funds used would have been better spent on our immediate problem which at the time and to an extent still is the lack of quality players who can play out wide
At the time I felt we could have got Burke and Rowe for the same price. I'm not anti Murphy, I hope he turns out to be a class player, it's just I've not been impressed so far.
Shaks, I agree Murphy has dropped off the pace a bit, and so has Mowatt ... Austin is not a playmaker, and is being used as our get forward midfielder, which means Murphy is sitting back almost permanently now ... Murphy is at his best attacking the opposition box, but with him now being given destructive duties we don't get to see his creative side, much like a Brown role ... would like to see Murphy in a more advanced role again, think that will come as he matures ... Murphy will still improve, can see him becoming a real asset, and going on a run of wins will help him and a few others gain confidence and express themselves more Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Like I say Billy hope so, but no ones knows if he'll improve, it's all conjecture, no one has a crystal ball.
Second half against Yeovil Murphy was outstanding Maybe he just needs a force 9 gale behind him every game
We need him for 90mins(same applies to a few more players) though Essex, I find him a bit inconsistent. Is it me but do we seem to play badly in the first half and play better 2nd...?
Oddly enough, I've always considered Leeds to be a second half team. Don't know if the stats back it up, but to me, it's always the 2nd half when we're at our best. (ok, apart from the last 5 mins in a few strings of matches!). Anyone else think that?
For too long the only players we could sign were the likes of Murphy, the one for the future type who would hopefully improve, either those or the past it type. Hopefully this summer,we may actually start signing players who are already good and proven players before they arrive. This business of lads moving up a division and taking half a season to get used to the Championship and our big crowds, before possibly failing is both a waste of time and a pain in the arse
Hi Ristac, doing alright? The reality of the transfer market is players become available when they do. #1 priority might be a left back, #2 a striker and #3 a centre mid for the future. On a particular day, perhaps the #3 player becomes available. The manager/club cannot say, we since that is only #3, we will wait until we get #1 and #2 done. In this case, I believe that BM thought he had more than he had available to him and would do his other business as his targets became available. I think he signed Murphy thinking he had more to spend and would do so when he could. Mere speculation, of course.
I am good thanks mate and yourself? I am hoping that is the reason (manager thought he was going to have more to spend) otherwise why strengthen a position we were already strong in (lots or average central midfielders) In whole, I am pretty happy with our defence and the reserves apart from maybe the keeper now. Midfield I wouldn't mind seeing 90% of it replaced, Kebe and Stewart are not going to improve and I am disappointed in both and Ross needs another 20 goal striker alongside him. Poleon doesn't seem able to break into the team and I am okay with Smith being on the bench. I know it defeats the object but when I used to play Championship Manager many moons ago I used to start with Leeds, I would set it to 2 player, the second player (being me) of a team which contained some decent players would see those players sold cheap and the ones I wanted shot of from Leeds brought at an extortionate rate before manager 2 resigned. A bit like us and Norwich in real life but the wrong way around
OMG!!! You trickster & shyster. Wouldn't be surprised if you're involved in one of these TO consortiums!
