Was fairly indifferent to this game but reading the Hull board has lit a teensy fire under me for this one. They haven't been disrespectful of us at all, in fact a few mentioned we were the best team they've faced this season, but almost the majority seem to think not that they could win the game but that they should win the game. It's not that I think the idea of Hull beating us insulting, they have every chance of doing so, but I still feel like we should be favourites. They are probably just out for revenge particularly since they can see the light of safety at the end of the relegation battle, but still for some reason I'm now really keen for us to assert our dominance whereas before I'd have been perfectly happy with a draw. Now I've said that we will of course get run into the ground.

Dan O'Hagan's match preview on BBC website: " This is my first look at the Saints this season, and in a World Cup year I'm looking forward to running the rule over England hopefuls Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Jay Rodriguez and Nathaniel Clyne.

I have a hunch Roy Hodgson might take a look at the latter of that quartet in the Denmark friendly next month - there are few better English right-backs at present who are playing regularly. It would be further vindication of Southampton's championing of domestic talent. "

    Nice.

One day PTF, you will just take a comment from someone without responding in the most exacting of ways and read it for what it is. One day.

    .

Thanks Joe for reading correctly into what appeared to be a non-antagonistic comment related to the post originally mate by PTF. I thought it may even have continued a discussion on how our high energy midfield allowed a midfield 'passer/quarter back' style player have a lot of freedom and undo us... but alas, no.

I think it's his first commentary so may mean his first live look.

Luke Shaw just smacked his head on the wing mirror as he got off with the team bus. <laugh>

Without being ignorant, if we can't score past a defence in which 50% of it is made up of Paul Mcshane and Alex Bruce then we may as well not even bother playing.

They have a incredible defensive record at home mate, so I'd save any disparaging remarks for full time. <ok>

Hull is not bad at the whole defending thing...only one team has scored 2+ goals against them in the seven league matches with McShane starting (that'd be us).
